For those that took the Thermal Fluids Exam in the new format, how much of HVAC topics do you need to know? According to the PPI study guide, it looks like all of MERM's HVAC section is fair play, is this accurate?

Thanks in advance

You only need a good grasp of psychrometrics and the vapor compression refrigeration cycle.  You don't need to know load calculations (but might have to know the difference between latent and sensible loads), duct sizing techniques,  HVAC system design, ventilation requirements, etc.

Having said that, please find some time to at least READ the entire HVAC chapter in MERM.

Shameless plug: Check out the free pages from this review e-book https://www.slaythepe.com/tfs-psychrometrics--hvac.html

The MERM was sufficient for the HVAC stuff (and really just about everything). No gimmicks, no tricks.
