[SIZE=11pt]Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) is seeking experienced engineers with a broad base of skills, knowledge and experience to fill a number of engineering posts within the Defence Equipment & Support Ships Operating Centre to provide support to the Royal Navy. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]These roles will involve working on a real mix of engineering issues, supporting surface ships and onboard equipment. The roles also involve the development of new ships and the support of those already in operational service with the Royal Navy.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Operating from a headquarters in Bristol and from other locations in the UK and overseas, DE&S employs approximately 12,300 people to deliver an equipment programme of approximately £164 Bn over the next ten years. The DE&S was launched on 1 April 2014 as a Bespoke Trading Entity (BTE), an arm’s length body of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). DE&S works with the Military Commands (Army, Navy and Royal Air Force) and MOD Head Office to manage complex programmes that deliver equipment and support to the UK’s Armed Forces. [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=11pt]Hull/Constructive Engineers [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Mechanical Engineers [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Electrical Engineers [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Combat Systems Engineers [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Safety Engineers [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Ships Operating Centre: [/SIZE][SIZE=11pt]Ships Operating Centre (OC) is responsible for delivering Surface Ship platform and equipment acquisition programmes and in-service support to the Front Line Commands (FLC). The Ships OC faces exciting challenges in continuing to support the Royal Navy and Royal Auxiliary fleets. Major projects include support to the Type 45 Destroyers; the construction of the Tide Class MARS Tankers in South Korea and the Offshore Patrol Vessels in Rosyth; the continuing Assessment Phase work on the Type 26 Global Combat Ship and delivery of the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=11pt]Deliver new and sustain existing capabilities that are safe to operate, through equipment procurement, technology advancement and optimised support solutions
    Understanding the challenges presented by new technology and how it can be applied.

  • [SIZE=11pt]Researching and preparing technical requirements.
    Reviewing and approving contractors’ designs and plans.
    Managing the collation of data to support the acceptance of equipment into service.
    [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Working with the Royal Navy and contractors to identify and resolve technical problems. [/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Identifying cost effective approaches to maintenance management, obsolescence and upgrade.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Providing technical advice on material properties, testing techniques and remedial actions.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Providing expertise on the fire characteristics of materials and advice on their suitability for use in ships.[/SIZE]
  • [SIZE=11pt]Providing expertise on safe stowage and movement of ammunition to meet the needs of the Royal Navy, including compliance with the statutory and regulatory framework.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Grade Entry Qualifications: [/SIZE][SIZE=11pt]Candidates are required to be fully registered as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or higher with the Engineering Council or show ability to achieve full registration within 12 months of appointment.[/SIZE]
