Structural Engineering PE License Review Problems & Solutions by Alan Williams. I don’t know if they published a newer edition than the 8th in 2009 but that book helped me tremendously both for the vertical and lateral exams. One of the lateral steel problems in the book ended up being a ~90%...

    PM Strategy

I used the same approach and really think it's the best way to tackle the afternoon. There's going to be (at least) one problem that could be an absolute time sink, so setting those limits for yourself is a must.

Should I take the SE Exam?

I had an old edition of the Structural Engineering Reference Manual and 4 or 5 books of practice problems that I went through and just did as many practice problems as I could (6 minute problems by Christine Subasic and Structural PE Practice Problems by Alan Williams were the best). I printed...

Should I take the SE Exam?

Take the SE. I was in a similar situation as you. I started working after getting my Bachelors, and 4 years into it I was worried I wasn’t getting a wide enough variety of work. I had my PE, but the work I was doing was very repetitive and I didn’t feel like I was really learning much as an...

    I need help with Lateral...

I also took the AEI lateral course for this cycle and here are some things I did to enhance my binders in preparation for the exam. For each topic, I moved all depth problems from mini exams, workshops, practice exam, to the front of the binder and added tabs and an index with brief...

    October 2020 Results

I passed the vertical in IL last year and got an email once it was available in my NCEES record, but it was available on CTS before NCEES, so if you're gonna spam F5 like me, do it on CTS.

    October 2020 Results

Same. Like a lot of people here, I basically studied all year save for a couple of months off due to the April cancellation, so I'm holding out for some potential good news before cracking open another book. Instead, I'm filling my time with the hobbies I didn't have time for while studying and...

How is your SE exams (2020 October)

It's been almost 2 weeks and that afternoon lateral concrete problem is still nagging in the back of my mind. I felt good about everything else, but man even after taking the AEI course, that problem was nothing like I was expecting. Hopefully the graders are kind with that one.

    SE Exam - Lateral 2020

Felt pretty good about the morning. The afternoon....we'll see. I feel like the concrete problem is really gonna make or break my chance at passing, was definitely caught off guard with that one. Just 8 short weeks until we get the results!

    COVID-19

Could they have made this any more ambiguous? Do they need to get to 25 people or under? Can they open another room? If they do have to cancel exams, how will they decide? Will they give priority to lateral-only takers? Really didn't need this 2 days before the exam lol.

    COVID-19

Welp, better now that April I suppose. Besides, how hard can it be to retain all this information for 7 months? 🤔

    COVID-19

If I get all the way through the AEI lateral course only to have the exam cancelled...I'm not sure what I'll do but I won't be happy lol.
