    Good luck, everyone!

Good luck SE test takers! I'm taking the PE tomorrow and will return to the SE this Fall. I would say I'm nervous about the PE but I would be lying.

Revit transfer to RISA and vice versa...

I don't think much of Revit. TME, you say you use STAAD but are about to switch to RISA - have you heard about STAAD(X) that will debut this year? It is going to replace STAAD.Pro

    Studying for PE Exam

Y'all are reinforcing what I've been thinking. I am more concerned about the morning portion of the exam with all the other disciplines included. I am going to study CERM and do sample problems. The exam is in a month so I guess I should start studying. Thanks for your replies

    Studying for PE Exam

Just wanted to know if anyone has taken both PE and SE. I took SE last Fall (passed vertical, failed lateral) and I'm going to take the PE next month. How does it compare in difficulty to the SE? How would you prepare differently? Thanks -Dave

PPI's 16-Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Practice Exam for Buildings

I thought the test was very helpful and the questions seemed to be a little more difficult than exam questions (which is a good thing in my opinion) and I had a tough time finishing the problems within 4 hours. I probably did the test two or three times just for practice and repetition and I...

October 2014 SE Test - Results

For both I probably put in around 100 hours. I don't see how anyone can study 300 hours. I was feeling burnt out and had gone through all of my sample questions & tests multiple times. And I felt prepared for the most part. The lateral exam caught me on a bad day and I'm confident I can pass...

October 2014 SE Test - Results

I think I am going to put the SE License on the back-burner and focus on passing the PE in April. If I could go back, I would have taken the PE Exam instead. It just makes more sense at this point in my career. It will get me jurisdiction in most states and is much easier to pass. For some...

October 2014 SE Test - Results

I almost got the exact same results, Mike. On the one hand its great to be done with Vertical but I hate having to face Lateral again Especially when I think I could have passed it. I wonder what the multiple choice cutoff was...

I'm with you, Darius. Here are my results: Vertical: Passed Lateral: AM: 26/40 PM: Wood/Masonry: Needs Improvement Concrete: Unacceptable Steel: Acceptable General Analysis: Acceptable So, I'll be taking the lateral exam along with the PE in April 2015. This is sort of what I expected. I...

October 2014 SE Test - Results

Wow that really sucks to get all acceptable and fail for the multiple choice. I don't think its fair for bridge people. If you can get acceptable on all PM sections, clearly you know your stuff.

PCI Design Handbook: Precast and Prestressed Concrete 7th ed.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have PCI Design Handbook and didn't open it once during the test. If you do have a question that references PCI (and you may) it would probably be a table lookup or something like that which your 5th Edition would probably suffice.

October 2014 SE Test - How did it go?

Hang in there, TME. I don't think you need to lose any sleep, I'm sure you passed this time around. I have pushed it towards the back of my mind. I became exhausted thinking about it. I have mentally prepared myself to retake lateral next April. Will they send us an email or something when the...

October 2014 SE Test - How did it go?

Thanks phecke, and you're right, you tend to focus on things that gave you trouble. So, like everyone else, I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic.

October 2014 SE Test - How did it go?

So it hit me yesterday what they were asking for one of the questions. Something about the way they worded the question threw me off. Now I'm real upset because I know exactly how to solve it but wrote calcs that weren't relevant. Did anyone have a similar experience?
