Surveying: SOPE or Dr Mansour's Course?

Thanks @Medal90 . I'm on the fence for the calculator type though, as I came to realize it is quicker converting to/from Degree, minute and seconds using Casio fx115. All you have to do is keep pressing the DMS button to obtain your angle and vice versa use shift DMS. On the TI-89 however...

Surveying: SOPE or Dr Mansour's Course?

@Medal90 Thanks a ton for sharing your insights! Your approach sounds pretty solid, and I appreciate the recommendation for CPESR and Reza's book. I'll definitely look into those as well. I'll keep your advice in mind as I prepare. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts, and...

Surveying: SOPE or Dr Mansour's Course?

Hi All, Appreciate any feedback you can give about why one course is better than the other. I heard Dr Mansour's content is good for the exam, but the presentation and quality of the illustrations not so good.. I haven't heard anything about School of PE's surveying course. TIA

Debating what civil PE class to take...

Folks, I'm debating which class to take for both the Breadth and Depth. I heard SOPE is good for the breadth, depth not so much. AEI for the depth may be..? I have no problem taking them with two different schools. But I want to make sure I choose one that closely follows/mimics the new NCEES...

Irvine Institute of Tech. - PE Exam Seminars

Facing the same dilemma here. After I contacted Irvine Institute (Dr. Chelapati), he told me that they sell the package as a whole. You can''t just buy the the structural depth. This would cost you about $2000 (Seminar + Manuals)

Changes in the New NCEES Civil PE Exam Specs'

The NCEES Spec sheet says "Effective Beginning with the April 2015 Examinations", so it is relatively new. @ John QPE, thanks for the confirmation!

Changes in the New NCEES Civil PE Exam Specs'

Comparing the previous civil breadth and depth specifications and the new April 2015 specifications, I gathered that the % of transportation questions dropped to 7.5% and that of Hydraulics/Hydrology to 17.5% (from 20% each). Also, I noticed wastewater treatment and water treatment are omitted...

    EET Seismic Review

Another happy EET student here. I got the results today, and I passed!! Dr. Ibrahim always went out of his way to answer all my questions, and making sure I understood the concept. His material is very well prepared and presented. He left no stone unturned, and made complex seismic concepts...

missing data in problem #1, seismic exam April 2015

You are right PH, the gentlemen who commented above may not have had that problem in their exam. But I'm 100% sure the W was not provided in the text of the problem nor was it included in the accompanying sketch. Anyway, I called the board last Friday and brought it to their attention. They took...

missing data in problem #1, seismic exam April 2015

Could it be that the board give different exams to Prometric in the same session, but similar in content for a fair testing of all the applicants?

    CA Seismic Review Course

I researched this thoroughly. measured each seismic prep's pros and cons. My conclusion was, as many people in this board agree, that EET's (Dr. Ibrahim) course is THE best in the "market". Their CBT simulation exam is remarkably similar to the exam. Their book is concise. What I used in the...

missing data in problem #1, seismic exam April 2015

I took the seismic exam last week. Not to be specific about the content of the problems (so not to violate any agreements), but is it just me or was the weight actually missing from the data given in problem #1? Would they grade on 54 problems if this turns out true? Thanks.

CA Seismic Exam Pbs have equal points? Passing Score?

Thanks Ptatohed! Forgive my unfamiliarity with the "concept" of the passing score and if i'm beating this thing to death. So according to what you said, the board after looking at the stats, decides that the passing score is let's say 55%. And on average people that score 55% and above...

CA Seismic Exam Pbs have equal points? Passing Score?

Hi All! Does anyone know if the problems given in the seismic exam are equally graded? I was surprised to see 55 problems at the exam in lieu of the 50 problems everyone is talking about. Are the extra 5 some sort of "bonus" problems? What about the average passing score, is it 70ish~75...

How does the CA board grade the exam?

Ok thanks. Hey just for kicks, looks like it's the "old man's beach" in the pic. You're either a surfer or a San Onofre Nuke plant engineer checking the retaining wall from collapsing over those beauties! :unitedstates:

How does the CA board grade the exam?

Does the california board weighs the grades from different sections of the exam equally? in other words : Morning session (breadth) : 25% of the total grade (or total points of the entire exam NCEES + SEISMIC + SURVEYING) Afternoon session (depth): 25% Seismic : 25% Surveying: 25% Or do...
