    Psych Chart Question

Looking at cold weather psychrometric charts, it appears that air at around -23F or so has enthalpy of less than zero. How is this possible? http://www.homepower.com/sites/default/files/uploads/Psychrometric_Chart.jpg

Freshly minted New York State P.E.s post here

I called the board today and they said they don't even have the scores yet. They said it usually takes 3-5 weeks.

    Registration/Next Steps After Passing

I called the NY board today as the "next steps" link from NCEES just links to the info page about registering for the Spring exam. The lady on the phone said they don't even have the results yet and it will take at least 3 weeks. Does anyone know what happens next in terms of the registration...

Clarification on Reference Materials for NYS test takers

I'm not taking that many books but more than will fit in one backpack or could be carried easily - Lindeburg manual, review problems, 6MS, Quick Ref, Practice Exam, one binder with notes, psych charts and ASHRAE standards, and 5 ASHRAE books. I'm wondering if I bring them in bags, what I am...

Clarification on Reference Materials for NYS test takers

Do all testing centers have somewhere to lock up your stuff? I am taking it at Pratt in Brooklyn so I won't be driving so I can't just leave my phone, bags, etc. in my car. Not sure how to transport my reference material though.

Down to single digits, how's everyone doing?

Did the afternoon half (HVAC) of the practice exam yesterday. Definitely much harder than the morning but still got 31/40 on it for a total of 66/80 so I'm feeling pretty good. Still cracking away though.

Problem with 6 Minute Solutions Ventilation Questions

I understand that Q76 has a similar methodology to Q67, however in Q67 the solution uses the default combined rate but Q76 uses the per person rate, this is the source of my confusion.

    HVAC 6-minute /Problem 27

I found this confusing at first as well based on what is on the chart Delta h / Delta Humidity. However, it is as simple as just using the enthalpy of the steam. Think of it this way, if you add one pound of steam to the air, you are adding 1163.9 BTU AND One pound of moisture. So Enthalpy goes...

Finding the correct answer from distractors/wrong answers

I wanted to see if anyone who has taken the PE exam if they had any input on using incorrect answers to find the correct answer based on them being distractors based on common mistakes. For example, in 6MS book, on flow rate problems that require a conversion from minutes to hours or seconds...

Problem with 6 Minute Solutions Ventilation Questions

Maybe I'm missing something but I have a disagreement with 2 of the ventilation rate questions in the HVAC 6 Minute Solutions Book. Question 66 refers to a "research facility", so I thought the appropriate thing to do would be to use the ventilation rates for a lab (10 cfm/person + .18...

    How to prepare for exam

I am currently waiting for my state board to approve my PE application. They have already approved me to take the FE. My plan as of now is to take both on the same weekend in April (PE on 4/11, FE on 4/12) so that I only have to study once. My problem is that I really don't know where to begin...
