Useful Online Videos To Compliment Studying?

Search the forum, there is discussion out there about the CI videos: http://engineerboards.com/index.php?showtopic=17033&hl=%2Bcomplex+%2Bimaginary+%2Bvideo#entry6908094 Most of what I've read have been positive comments. I personally didn't use videos to study, but I did bookmark the...

    Wildi vs. Grainger/Stevenson

I wouldn't take a full copy of the old version of NFPA 70E, but I would probably look at the major changes and take the applicable pages, particularly if they fit into one of the NCEES question categories (e.g. shocks and burns). It is not likely that NCEES will be using the 2015 version yet...

    Grounding

One of the references I took was a paper I found online called "Resistance Grounding System Basics" by Michael D. Seal, P.E. I also used a white paper from some guys at Schweitzer Labs titled "Methods for Detecting Ground Faults in Medium-Voltage Distribution Power Systems". There is some good...

should i buy new edition of NEC 2014 or stick to 2011 !

The one year statement from NCEES is a little sketchy. The 2014 NEC was actually released in August 2013, so the October 2014 exam should have used the 2014 NEC if you follow the strict definition of "1 year after next NEC version is issued" as stated on the NCEES website. That said, the...

Looking for Used Protective Relaying Book by Blackburn

I have the 3rd edition, great book! They have plenty available through the amazon.com marketplace. 4th edition for about $115 or you can rent it for five months for $67.

    Wildi vs. Grainger/Stevenson

Spin Up posts a free Question of the Week on their website each week leading up to the exam. They start about three or four months before the exam. I haven't worked their full sample exams. I did work all of the free QOTW right before the exam. A couple of those had different material that I...

Anyone selling Casio FX-115ES Plus Calculator?

I used an HP in college and before that used Casio exclusively. I've never owned / used a TI before. When looking for an approved calculator for the exam, I saw some positive posts on the forum for the TI-36X Pro so I used that on the power PE exam. I found it very easy to do complex number...

What is your work environment as an Engineer

I considered switching over to a firm that pays salary + OT but decided against it in part due to what I perceived as an unpredictable work environment. Some weeks would be 40 hours but other weeks it may be a lot more depending on approaching deadlines. It seems like there would be more...

PASS PE :) how did u do it.

I'll add some personal experiences to what others have already said. Some of it may be a repeat so I apologize in advance if you find yourself reading something that has already been discussed. I passed the first time, though frankly after the exam I wasn't very confident that I did. I spent a...

    Post here if you passed

I'm looking forward to ordering mine! Unfortunately in Louisiana I have to wait until the board meets on Jan 28th to approve and confer my license. I'm guessing I should have a license number soon after.

Donation sent. Appreciate y'all running this site. I didn't post much while studying for the exam, but I searched for quite a few topics that I had questions on and for the most part found very helpful answers.

    Any info on Louisiana results?

I have also found the ladies to be very helpful in answering my questions throughout the process. When I asked about how the results will be delivered, they told me that we "will be notified by NCEES via email".

    Any info on Louisiana results?

I emailed LAPELS two weeks ago and they told me middle to late December, so "before Christmas" is probably a somewhat standard response. I'm expecting them today or tomorrow. I'm hoping today since they had a meeting this morning.

    39... I mean... 40 days

Sent an email to my state board today. Response back was pretty standard: results are expected to be released mid to late December.

October 2014 Electrical Power Exam was Tough

I don't know about "to each their own", I think that kind of minimalizes the fact that you needed the book to answer the question. I don't have tables from the NFPA 70E memorized. Without getting specific, a question states "in accordance with NFPA 70E", then asks a question that requires you...

October 2014 Electrical Power Exam was Tough

A few insights from the exam, without discussing specifics of questions: - I thought the morning session was extremely difficult, the afternoon was a little closer to what I expected based on the CI, Spin Up, and NCEES questions available. - I'm glad I brought a copy of NESC; I thought I may...

    Complex Imaginary Exams

Hello all. I'm new to the forums; preparing to take the PE power exam in April. I've been reading the posts and it looks like the Complex Imaginary exams are pretty good study material. Does anyone a copy of these exams (volumes 1-4) that they would be interested in selling? I checked the "Swap...
