    New(ish) licensing process from NCEES

Yeah you have to reapply to each state you want and they judge based on the information supplied to them. The NCEES record is a way to somewhat standardize it. Going through the record process will make it easier to apply for additional states. You'll have to go through the whole process...

Control Systems PE - One Day Only

I'm thinking about taking the control systems PE exam in October. It's only offered on one day a year. How can I tell if there is still availability at the exam centers on that one day to take the exam? It seems like I need to sign up and pay the test fee just to take the exam. Is this true? Is...

    Env Sp

Think of LEED for vertical construction (buildings) and ENV SP as horizontal construction (pipelines, sewers, roads, etc). There is some overlap, especially in the water industry. But I've never seen it as a requirement on a project. Well I did once, but water utilities have very little money...

    PE Certificate Frame w/Pencil

Wow, some of the frames on here look very familiar. I haven't posted on this forum in a while, but glad its still providing inspiration.

    Exam center in India

Actually, here is the link I was looking for. https://ncees.org/engineering/engineering-licensure/international-engineering/ Exam offerings outside the United States NCEES has agreements with a number of foreign entities to administer an NCEES exam in those countries. Visit...

    Exam center in India

I don't know about those countries specifically. But I believe the FE/PE are offered in Egypt as well. https://ncees.org/category/news/international/ I seem to remember that there are a few Caribean countries that have agreements with North Carolina. Basically, they just accept NC's PE license...

How to Help Someone Taking the PE Exam?

Either helping too much or not enough.

    PMP Exam Prep

IMHO, this is the number one downfall for engineers on the PMP. The PMP was born out of the IT industry, not brick and mortar projects. It has a lot of good information with individual pieces/tools to be used throughout a project. But they are very particular about their way and only their way...

    Xmer core made of wood?

Unless you consider all dimensions of a product, you will never know if it is viable.

    Xmer core made of wood?

But the wet cells will conduct electricity between primary and secondary sides. So you will have an electrical connection, which will be a problem.

    Xmer core made of wood?

I'm going to say not technically or commercially possible. Refer to table 2.1 at http://www.tcforensic.com.au/docs/article10.html Assuming you could make it work, with similar efficiency as steel, you would expect a dry type transformer to have a 150 deg C rise. I suspect wood would (hehe) be...

    Comity - North Carolina

So I applied for a Comity license in North Carolina for a project that we thought was coming, but we ended up losing. I just got approved for an NC license today. The letter says the license is subject to a privilege tax. Do non-residents have to pay this tax? It looks like it is $50 due July 1...

When a PE denies signing the SER

Unfortunately there are people in this world who think they own you and take it personally when you want to do something different. Whether it be for a different company or for a different group within a larger company. There is likely no way to make amends with this person. If he doesn't want...

Would you be willing to move for 30% raise?

If Mississippi is the type of place you want to live, go for it. But if you aren't interested in living there than this seems like a non-starter.

    NCEES Experience Dispute

My main beef with it is it stops you from seeing everything wrong with your application. For example, I just went to transmit mine, it said I had one error that my experience needed to be updated to today's date. So that has to go to a manager in your company to reverify, then it has to be...

    NCEES Experience Dispute

It wouldn't have mattered if it lapsed or not, you would've had to start over either way.

    Graffeo - Single Phase Problem

Like jwholla said, you have two directions. The voltage across the load terminals will be lower due to impedance on both sides of the load.

    Chemical PE moving to CBT

I looked quickly, but didn't see a post on here about this, so this may be a duplicate. Apparently they aren't offering the Chemical PE in the fall because they are transferring that one to CBT starting in Jan 2018. Are they finally doing this with all the disciplines...

    Privilege tax and renewal fees

Do licensees who live outside of TN but hold a TN license need to pay this tax?

    PE Exam Discipline

This seems like short term thinking....pick an area that you see long term growth in and look for jobs in that field. Rapid fire looking for anything and everything doesn't make much sense long term.
