    Review material

I have passed the 16 hour SE but since some states don't accept this exam for PE licensure I'm planning to sit for the Civil-Structural PE this April. Trying to figure out what review materials i need in addition to the books I already have from the SE. Any suggestions beyond the following...

16 Hour SE Exam for PE Licensure

I still find it silly that CA accepted the old SE I for PE licensure but do not accept the new 16-hour SE for PE licensure. Oh well, it is what it is.

16 Hour SE Exam for PE Licensure

Yes. You can get an SE in IL without being a PE there first. I don't know if IL will accept the 16 hour SE for PE licensure though. My problem there is Illinois requires 18 semester hours of structural analysis (9 of which have to be design) to become licensed as an SE. I haven't talked to any...

16 Hour SE Exam for PE Licensure

Just wondering if anyone else has come across a similar situation: After getting my 4 years experience, I took the SE exam but I haven't taken the PE exam. With this test I was able to get my Texas PE as well as the Model Law Engineer designation (MLE/NCEES Record). Using the NCEES Record, I...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

SEAOC Manuals definitely helped me for round 2, My biggest problem was not having enough problems so I bought Kaplans "Structural Engineering PE License Review Problems & Solutions, 8th Edition" It has some mistakes and some occasional outdated code references but it's well worth it. I...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

But in my state (Texas) they don't recognize SE so I'll have to register as PE. What if I applied for reciprocity for PE in other states that require SE to be an add on? The reason I ask is that there are people in my office that have taken the old SE 1 and became licensed as PE in Texas. They...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

So would there ever be a need to take the PE exam after passing this test?

That's what I did last October. Just buckle down and focus all your efforts into lateral and you'll get it next time.

    SE Exam Results?

Thanks for the reply. I feel like I'm in an identical situation I'm having a much harder time studying this time around too. I bought the Kaplan structural engineering problems and solutions book a few days ago to try to get going. Hopefully it's as good as Alan Williams 'Seismic and Wind...

    SE Exam Results?

What did you do differently the second time around for the lateral exam? I passed Vertical and I'm retaking Lateral in April. I feel like I'm stuck studying the same material and the doing same practice problems so I feel like I'm going to be at the same level of preparation.

    SE Exam Results?

Yep. I think I was close on the Lateral, I had 28/40 and 2 acceptable, 1 improvement required, and 1 unacceptable.
