    NEW JERSEY RESULTS

Just received my wall certificate today...and they spelled my name right! About the same size and style as a college diploma. Yay!

    Six Minute Solutions

I focused almost exclusively on those practice problems, and I thought they were a lot harder than the ones I actually encountered on the exam back in April. I also did some AM practice problems from the other depth books, and they were good prep too. Overall, I'd highly recommend them. At...

    Strike three...what to do?

DH = "dear husband" DH essentially does what you do, minus the residential component. But the company doesn't have an MEP component, so there are no PEs there. It really stinks because he's not eligible to sit for the exam, at least in NJ. Are there any states that don't require references to...

Federal Gov't Job - Civil Engineer

DKent, I recently saw a job announcement for a permanent USACE position based in Bridgewater, NJ, but I haven't been able to find the office address online. Is it possible that it's based out of a trailer, or do you know of a permanent office there?

    Strike three...what to do?

Sorry to hear you didn't make it this time. I'd say take the summer off and gear up for next April. It'll give you some time to clear your head and enjoy the season. On a side note, DH is also an audiovisual engineer and interested in getting his license. He's already passed the FE, but can't...

Do you need insurance to work as a consultant if you don't sign or seal anything?

By "they" I mean both client and company, along with anyone else who might think it would be fun to sue civil-nj. I don't know yet whether I'd be a consultant with a contract or a part time employee on their payroll. I assume a consultant would need to carry insurance and an employee would be...

Average age of PE exam passers

Good for them!! Wow, that's gotta be tough. I am in complete awe of them, but I'm still relieved that I passed before getting pregnant.

    Thank You Letters

I just got my passing letter today and plan on sending hand-written thank you notes to each of my 5 references. I don't work with any of them anymore and don't email them regularly, so I think an email would be a little too impersonal in my case.

Average age of PE exam passers

That was a major factor in my decision to submit my application so early, even though a lot of my experience was from "non-traditional" work. I was half expecting them to reject it and say come back in a year or two. Luckily that didn't happen, but if it had and I needed to take the exam...

Do you need insurance to work as a consultant if you don't sign or seal anything?

I quit my civil engineering job recently with the intention of getting into another field. In the meantime I received an unsolicited offer to work part time for a friend of the family's as a civil engineer, probably for just a few months. I could use the extra cash while I figure out my next...

Average age of PE exam passers

I just passed the Civil PE at age 25, which I figure is probably a bit on the young side. I was lucky that my senior design project and internships were supervised by PEs and counted as relevant experience. Otherwise I wouldn't have taken the test until much later. That got me thinking, what...

How does your Licensing Board works?

NJ doesn't either. Not that I'm surprised...their office staff is completely useless. :15:

    NEW JERSEY RESULTS

Are there any other Jersey gals or guys waiting for results? I'm really bummed because I'll be out of town for about a week starting tonight, and I'm afraid I won't be here when the results come. And since NJ doesn't release results via email, I can't check while I'm gone! I was fine waiting...
