Most Professional Manner to Inquire About Jobs

Thanks for the responses! I'm planning on attending the next Structural Engineers Association meeting in my local chapter. I'll plan on dressing nice, shaking some hands and take it from there.

    Masters in Structural Engineering

Ok, I'll agree with thoughtofthis above. I may have assumed too much about a BSCE. I took all of the courses he mentioned undergrad, and my graduate studies focused on finite element analysis, earthquake engineering, prestressed concrete, bridge design, structural dynamics and advanced concrete...

    Masters in Structural Engineering

I have mine and it hasn't seemed to help me all that much. I'd recommend taking all of the time, money and effort into directly networking with structural firms in your area. Volunteer if you have to (at least you're not accruing debt). My 2c.

Most Professional Manner to Inquire About Jobs

Hey Guys I recently got my PE (hooray). In college I took every elective possible in structural engineering (BSCE and MSCE). I'm terribly unsatisfied in my current government job (transportation project management). I want to try and make a move to a smaller private firm. What is the most...

Transfering the licence to OH and CA

To get reciprocity in the beautiful state of California, you will have to take the seismic and survey exams, both of which are much more difficult than the 8 hour (from personal experience). Good luck.

    After finding out your results!

My girlfriend checked the database on her phone from bed Christmas morning, woke me up and showed me. There is no place I'd rather be to celebrate than where I was at.

    California!

CAPLS, you guys rock! My girlfriend woke me up, showing me my name on the database Christmas morning :) Now I will never forget that I get my PE on Christmas day. Took me two tries, but thankfully got the surveying done this October. Woohoo! RCE#80071X

Most likely, don't hold your breath

    California!

This is so irritating... My mail usually comes at 4pm so let's hope it shows up then (San Diego).

    California!

Kholmes where do you live? No letters in san diego yet

    California!

What are the chances my results letter will make it from Sacramento to San Diego by tomorrow? Waiting until Monday to find out I've cleared the entire exam would be torture!

    California!

To be honest, if the results aren't on license lookup after the daily DCA updates, you're not going to find out until the next day. Mailed results should come out 1-3 days after the first names are in the database.

    Preparing for the Surveying exam

Also, with the new CBT exams, expect the questions to be grossly unlike anything you study in cuomo/boniface :)

    California!

Such a shame, that's my pay day too!

    California!

Thanks Ric! To everybody else, the latest civil PE was #80363 If #80364 is not on the database, official results are not online (NCEES 8hr excluded)

    California!

In other news, I've memorized all of the PEs with the same last name as me from checking the license lookup......

I think my F5 key is going to fall off

    Surveying and Seismic Results

It will come in the mail only. CA takes the longest of almost every state (probably because of population). If you're waiting for just one exam result, I think historically the license lookup database will be current before the letter will get to your house. I'm only waiting on surveying so I...
