    I agree that all the CI and spin-ups I did had very little to do with the test. But I do not regret any time I spent on those practice tests. I really believe that they made me more familiar with material that I would've otherwise glossed over, and it also helped get my reference materials in...

    I took power as well. I felt the test was hard. As some of my colleagues said right afterwards "That was a TEST." Like everyone said, there were more conceptual questions than I expected. I wanted to get a bunch of easy econ questions, but no...I'm very glad I borrowed a Schaum's machines book...

    Yes I think this problem is bunk. If the author of the Spin-ups exams could chime in? All sources I find use the dot alignment to either buck or boost the VOLTAGE. And, frankly, this is my experience with messing around with coils on the test bench :]

    I searched for "branches" in this forum for the exact question you have, Ros. I do not understand this MVA method paper's calculation of SLG fault. Does anyone know why there are three branches?

    I too was equally confused by this. I've always referred to bucking as step-down, and boosting as step-up- but as it was said here, they don't seem to have anything to do with each other. My guess was that when the windings were aligned (same dots, Boost) the current capacity is "boosted" and...
