Why does Construction have a low pass rate?

I also have an MS in structural, but have many years working as an RE and in design with underground utilities and roadways. My feeling when I took the construction PM exam was that it encompassed many portions of the other depth sections. For example, as an RE you need to know how to...

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

Thanks! This clears up my original concerns with Indiana's bylaws etc... Also, good to know there are additional fees I did not see in my research...

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

This is the most expensive comity fee I have found. I am looking into applying for a Wisconsin license and I believe it's only around $80, which seems to be the case for some of the other states I have researched.

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

Quick update in case anyone is wondering about this, I emailed the North Carolina board to ask since we are looking into moving there in the future. Their response was as long as we have an ABET degree, passed the FE and PE, and have 4 years of experience we can apply for comity.

    Transp./Highway Technical Conferences/Conventions

Thanks, I guess I should expand on my original question. PDHs would be a great bonus, but my company is looking to grow our civil side so the ability to network/mingle would be the dominating factor. Anything like World of Concrete, ACI's concrete convention etc...?

    Transp./Highway Technical Conferences/Conventions

Does anyone have a recommendation or suggestion regarding technical seminars, conventions, and conferences? Anything worth the time and money? I'm looking specifically for transportation/highway engineering topics, anything that would assist in PDH accrual is a plus. Thanks!

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

I just received a very vague email from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, basically stating they cannot legally interpret the administrative code or statutes and that they cannot affirm eligibility. The only thing they did say, after apologizing for the vagueness of their response, was...

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

Apparently there is a difference between comity and reciprocity - just in case you are like me and did not realize that. Comity is recognizing your license by waiving some of the administrative steps and exams that are normally required if you were not already a PE. Reciprocity basically...

No Comity, IL PE Exam before 4 Years XP

Thank you for posting this topic. This has me worried too. I am looking into applying for comity in Indiana but the board administrative rules refer back to the requirements to take the exam in Indiana while referring to sub sections for reciprocity, needless to say I am a little confused. The...

    PE and Money

In case anyone is looking for another source to negotiate their salary, ASCE and ASME have a joint salary survey from 2012. It breaks down each job function, length of experience, education, industry, metro area etc... similar to NSPE's document it seems. You can download the PDF, if you want...

FE Passed.. Need Help to prepare for PE. Civil now

According to the CTS website and the way I read it, that deadline is for all applicants that have passed the FE and have an ABET accredited degree, both first time test takers and repeat takers. Their website also states that people without ABET accredited degrees need to apply directly to...

    Illinois Results October 2013

When I passed, I got a letter from CTS a few days after they posted results and a few weeks later I got a letter from IDFPR explaining my next steps. Did they change the process? I only passed in April, so I don't think it would have changed that much that much since then, but who knows.

FE Passed.. Need Help to prepare for PE. Civil now

IL's deadline for applications is February 7, according to CTS's website. In IL you can take the exam before you have 4 years of experience. If you pass, you just submit verification forms filled out by your supervisor to IDFPR. They might have you submit clarifications and such, I think the PE...

    Morning Section CERM

My advice would be to follow the NCEES topic outline. As broad as some of those topics are, I would not skip or short-cut anything. Even though the CERM is pretty large, I would suggest going through all of the topics (even if it's just skimming on the basic stuff) just to refresh yourself on...

Which States besides CA require special exams for PE?

There isn't a state specific test in IL, but I am looking to apply for an IN license and they require each comity candidate to submit a short exam over the engineering board bylaws, Indiana license law etc... Nothing compared to the CA specific exams.

    What happens after passing

I would wait until you see your name and license # on the license search of the missouri engineering board website or until they send you a notice with your cerificate and license #. In my opinion, the last thing you would want is to start signing things as a PE but with no documentation...

    PE and Money

Recently licesned, with 5 years experience, I got a $500 bonus and no raise so far. Currently make around $54k. Just found out a new grad/hire was offered around $50k... I know I started out low when I graduated; between the small business factor and crappy economy I had no recourse at the...
