    California SE License

I spoke with the CA board after getting my passing SE results in IL this spring. They did confirm that I do not have to take any more exams and only need to provide a sufficient application with my reference letters once my 3 year period is up. Unfortunately, I have 3 references but got my CA...

    SE passing raise?

I second that, I've been wanting to ask about the value of SE before I try to re-negotiate next week. I now feel like a greedy jerk.

Earlier this week the exam dates for Lateral and Vertical were transposed but are now correct.

No kidding, I hadn't really told anybody yet since my boss is on vacation so I'll continue to make sure I'm on the IDFPR site. They did change my web login slightly and the exam titles match the actual date I took them.

Post your April, 2012 results here

I've been checking the site for days at two hour intervals. They have the tests listed backwards date wise but it says closed and "pass" on both of them. Boo-yah I am finally done with this exam.

I'm hoping for a smoother experience than last October but I guess I'll spend the next week logging into the CTS site every weekday hour.

    Today's the day

What is the purpose of the Illinois board having a 2 day meeting? I know that the state releases their own scores but do they do any score revisions of their own to the NCEES release?

    Passing SE scores

Here is a link to a previous discussion from last October about exam results. Based on this it seemed that the morning and afternoon were seperate in that one unacceptable is a definite fail (guess it could drag you down enough to push the overall below the minimum). I'm still not sure on how...

    (Canopy problem) Threaded rods.

Quite a turn this thread took. Criticism is going to be part of this career path and has to be taken with a grain of salt. Especially if you end up working on an OSHPD controlled job where other firms justify their review pay by picking apart your calculations.

ASCE 8-02 will also have information on compression in stainless elements..

    Illinois SE requirements

Check out this webpage http://www.ilga.gov/commission/jcar/admincode/068/068014800001700R.html After reading this I decided to take the SE exam in Illinois with all their extra rules just to avoid all the issues that may pop up. A CA SE may be the best for applying by comity.

    Comments to NCEES's grading

I received a couple of "needs improvement" for the lateral afternoon last October. I know exactly what I did wrong on them the moment I walked out the door. I also had the exact same feelings for the vertical session the day before but passed it. I am under the impression that you don't have...

Out of Plane Anchorage Forces (Rigid Diaphragm)

McEngr, I've have gone through the excel sheet you provided (thank you for that by the way) and it matches with how I planned on approaching this type of problem. I was just confused when reading the CMACN information. I just want to be prepared if I show up and IL doesn't allow all of my...

Out of Plane Anchorage Forces (Rigid Diaphragm)

My biggest concern is that it seems Williams is saying that "all" walls to rigid diaphragms fall under the guidelines of ASCE Chapter 13. Then CMACN states that only "non-structural" walls to rigid diaphragms fall under the guidelines of ASCE Chapter 13 but they conveniently do not cover this...

Out of Plane Anchorage Forces (Rigid Diaphragm)

I have read through several texts looking for a definitive answer on when to use ASCE Ch. 12 vs. Ch. 13 and am more confused than when I started. As this exact topic was my "needs improvement" last October I'm fairly concerned with it. I'll do my best to explain what I'm seeing. Text 1: 2009...

    SERM?

I was unable to use the SERM when taking the exam in IL last October. Be sure to check on references on the www.idfpr.com website before the exam so that you don't get surprised the night before like I did.

    CA structural legacy exam results

It is not listed on the NCEES requirements so I believe it is only IL. They have additional requirements through their independent testing agency. I only took it there because I knew they offered an SE and I thought it would be like any other state. Now I'm stuck halfway done with them...
