How important is BS in engineering?

Not sure what you could have been doing in the first year but it is definitely not too late to switch to engineering. I thought most colleges didn't even require students to declare until after the 2nd year. Did you take 10 courses in only one area..like history? seems unlikely. you should be...

    Dormitory Load Calc help

Just use the NEC; figure out if it is in fact a NEC "dwelling unit" which changes some of your code requirements such as breaker type, required receptacles, etc but its pretty straight forward after that. Add receptacle (120V), lighting, and mechanical loads. Don't forget to accord for some...

    3-Phase Load Demand Calculation

Yes, those stand for 3000 Amp Frame and 2000 Amp Trip. There are standard frame sizes and then there are breakers that fit into the frame. Check the NEC for standard ones available or go directly to a manufacturer website and check out what each one offers. The 2000A circuit breaker is most...

    Eaton Consulting Application Guide

Don't worry, its worth having a copy of the book (its free!). May not be worth carrying it to the exam tho.

    Eaton Consulting Application Guide

you really only need the first section which is a overall view of electrical distribution design. the rest is more detail on products and some application details but not really necessary for the exam. you can print it out from their website since the paper copy is rather large.

How to under stand NEC Table 230.51(C)

I don't have the spin-up exams but I think the table is straight forward: 600V conductors shall be installed at the max support and associated clearance. So, if you have conductors that are supported at a max of 9'-0" intervals then you need at least 6" clearance between the conductors...

NEC 2011 index by Tom Henry and NEC 2011 Tabbing

you have to have the tabs if not for the exam then for professional usage before and after the exam. why wouldn't you tab the NEC AND all of your reference materials.... if you think its too time consuming to tab your references then that could be justified but spending $11-$15 and sticking on...

Looking for a feel on how prepared I am...

I got around 80% on the CI exams and 70% on the NCEES exam. By exam day, I knew all of the NCEES problems and various ways of solving them. I was able to pass on the first try. The 4 CI exams are roughly the same difficulty. Spin-up Exams were not out at the time.

    IEEE References?

I think the closest one would be the red book. I am trying to read the color books now but i have no time. They are supposedly a great reference for power engineers.

    NEC 2011

You should get the handbook for studying and bring that to the exam. There will be no point of just getting the NEC unless you are not planning to study it (meaning you already know it) then you it might be better off getting the cheaper and lighter (weight) book............? Also note that...

Typical Salary for Electrical Engineer (5 yrs)

yeah, i saw that and have browsed it but it does not specifically talk about electrical salary (although there are some electrical responses). I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Hopefully, I won't have to start shopping around. Too busy to do that anyway.
