Seeing how there's 850 views to this thread and a fraction of replies, I'm going to chalk it up to shy engineers. I guess we're the loud guys in class.
I got vertical results 12/14 last year, so placing my bets on 06/14 for my state at least.
What's the over/under on feeling like you got 30+ on morning and then waking up Sunday realizing you bombed one question in the afternoon (thus ruining my day) and knowing you're totally not confident on another? Should I see a psychiatrist since I'm dreaming about NCEES exams? Is SE Exam PTSD...
I passed the October 2011 exam and the advice I took from this board was to work the entire Hiner workbook 3 times. I worked through the workbook, took a couple of weeks off to study different topics and repeat. The third time I worked through it was 1-2 weeks before the test. By the third...
Passed finally have that number. Goal setting really does work.
As for the partial update, I understood they updated the database based on when they received the application.
I've had a coworker pass the 8 hour in California, but not the state specifics and he was able to get licensed in Texas. You may need the 3 references for whatever state board.
Civil-Struct, Seismic, Survey in Texas
Just started a new job and when running out of things to talk about, I mention I took the PE exam to my new coworkers. Hope this doesn't backfire on me. Feeling confident it won't though :D
Yeah that's correct. It puts that equation out there first to ensure that the most critical case regardless of the building period is checked.
lol at political ideologies, now that's a joke only engineers would understand.
I think you need to take a step back and focus on ASCE 7-05 Figure 11.4-1. If you built an infinitely stiff structure (and a fundamental period of zero) ASCE 12.8-3 would have a seismic response coefficient of infinite. Then again ASCE 12.8-3 is just an equation (1 of 3) to better represent...
I've never taken any of these exams so take it for what it's worth, but I've done some research with this board and have come up with:
For Seismic: Hiner Workbook. Work all the problems 2-3 times while tabbing ASCE and IBC along the way. 2 weeks (conservative).
For Surveying: Mansour DVD...
