Are non power topics worth studying?

I'm starting to really sike myself out by reading some of the posts in this forum and need some guidance. Do we need to have a pretty solid base knowledge of basic electronics topics not shown on the NCEES topic breakdown? It looks like almost everything on there is power related. Some topics...

    GA tech review course assessment

Has anyone completed the GA tech review course assessment? I need to get a certificate in order to get my course fees reimbursed. NCEES Power 536 - Error

I just found an error in the NCEES 2009 power exam. The solution for question 536 reads to multiply the radius of the conductor by 12 to convert it to feet instead of dividing it by 12. The answer comes out the same either way, but just an FYI.

    NCEES Power 517

Question: A 3-phase induction motor and a 3-phase synchronous motor are connected to a 480-V system. The synchronous motor, operating at 8 kVA, 480 A, 60 HZ, is overexcited producing a leading power factor of 0.70. The induction motor draws a current of 14.43 A and has a lagging power factor...

    NCEES Power 513

I didn't see a thread regarding this question so I'll ask it. Question: for a 3-phase fault located at location A, the 12-kV short circuit current (amperes) is most nearly: Distribution line length 20 miles line impedance Z = j0.145 ohms/1000 ft Transformer - 3ph 60/12kV, 7.5MVA with 7.5%...

    NCEES Power 508

    508. Consider the lossles ac transformer shown in the figure. The steady-state impedance seen between terminals H1-H2 is most nearly: I don't understand why they're using the square of the turns ratio to find the high side impedance. Can someone explain this to me? I can't find anywhere in my...

    PA PE test approvals

Has anyone been approved for the October 2011 PE test in PA? I applied for the April test and they didn't give me an answer till after the registration deadline and they just gave me a vague letter asking for more details on my experience. Now the deadline to take the exam for Oct is Sept 1st...
