That won't really be a problem. Maryland now requires you also use a separate stamp on drawings on which you enter your license number and expiration date for that very reason.

Fire protection. In the MD/DC area there are not a lot of FPE's, and I also hold a NICET level IV and a CFPS cert, so doing federal work they love me. Until now we had to farm out all FPE work, and the ones around here charge a fortune, so this was a win/win deal.

True - but, if you do 99% federal government work, as we do, all they want is a license from any state. There are several that will do a comity license like this.

In Maryland there is an "experience option"; if you have at least 12 years of verifiable engineering experience,along with several personal recommendations from licensed PE's, you are permitted to sit for the PE exam and be licensed. That is the route I took - my BS is actually in Accounting!

Had a pre-negotiated raise before I took the test - $10k and a $5k bonus. After passing they not only honored it, but bumped the bonus to $7500! Apparently they are afraid I could leave - not as long as they treat me like this!

The registration numbers story makes sense. When you get the results pdf on MyNCEES it has your registration number on it if you passed. At that point you can go on-line and pay the license fee as well as go ahead and order stamps. Would be nice if they could rush it up a bit though!

Wow! I have "pre-negotiated" a $5k bonus and a $10k raise, assuming MD ever gets off the results and I did pass. Got to say I feel well treated!

OK - still no scores in MD yet, but the pass percentages are WAY UP this time! 68% first time and 44% repeat........I got a good feeling about this!
