Structural Code Changes for April 2015 Exam

Old codes? The old adage "they don't build them like they used to" comes to mind!

Structural Code Changes for April 2015 Exam

Bflem, If you study out the codes and know them front to back, the exam shouldn't be too rough, even with the code change. No one ever said it was a bad thing to over-prepare. I trust you have been studying diligently for at least 9 months, so by exam day you will have a solid year of study...

    2013 Oct exam civil/structural

I am a veteran of all this exam mamma jamma, and the only advice I can lend you is that you gotta learn it all, bflem. As the saying goes, nuts to soup.

Correct, applicable to masonry structures only. fyi, I believe you can use ASD or LRFD on steel problems.

16 Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Exam Review - FALL 2013

Mark, Very well said. I think you have just helped a ton of future SE's on their way. It sounds as if you were diligent and pragmatic about studying for the exam, but not over the top. I agree, I think 200 hours is plenty to study for an exam, especially if you are well rounded and up to speed...

16 Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Exam Review - FALL 2013

On another note... has anyone else had this experience? I wasn't aware that any east coast states are currently requiring the 16 hour SE for engineering licensure. Illinois is the closest to the east coast, and it sounds like Florida will be incorporating some SE requirements soon, but from the...

    Hours Studied for SE Exam?

That was very impressive! The lateral on the fall 2012 exam administration had one of the lowest pass rates in recent memory.

16 Hour Structural Engineering (SE) Exam Review - FALL 2013

    1. I did not take a review course so I can't speak to how helpful they really are. I think that the good old tried and true method of studying at home is the way to go rather than going to a review course. Thats just my perspective though so take it for what its worth. 2. don't be so quick to...

    Hours Studied for SE Exam?

I spent about 1.5 hours a night during the week and 4-8 hours on the weekend for about 3 months for the exams ~200 hours. I took them both at the same time in the fall, passed the vertical and failed lateral. I did a little less, maybe 150 hours for the spring when I re-took lateral and passed...

    Overall SE Exam

I have taken the PE Civil/Structural and SE exams. I think the SE mornings are fairly comparable to the PE afternoon, though slightly harder. In addition, don't forget that you are going to have a significant number of AASHTO problems on the SE as compared to the PE, where you may just get a...

    LEED

Does anyone have LEED AP BD+C review book(s) for sale? Also, is all the material that you will need to review for the GA exam included in the BD+C books, or do you need separate review books? Please PM me if you have any of these that you are trying to unload...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

North Carolina just posted their results this morning. I passed the lateral on my second try. I passed the vertical last fall so I guess I can put this exam to bed officially now! It is a helluva exam, so keep putting in the work and yall will all get the results you want, and it will be worth...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

Let me start by saying I am a buildings guy... hate the AASHTO with a passion. But I agree completely with akladiva, it is good to now have a working knowledge of the AASHTO code, the design criteria, etc. I used to think that they should have a separate exam for buildings or bridges, but then...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

I would be willing to bet that the results will be out by the middle of next week at the latest. I had a similar thing happen to me last fall when I asked during the week following the grading workshop, they gave the generic response and sure enough the results were posted in the next day or so...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

Looks like we have about 2 weeks to breath easy until we get results. NCEES posted the following on their website: Structural Scoring workshop The Structural Scoring workshop will be held to grade the essay portion of the April 2013 SE exam. Learn more about the scoring process here. When...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

I passed the vertical last fall but failed the lateral, so this was my second time taking the lateral-buildings test. I thought that the afternoon questions were a good bit more straight forward than they were last fall. I still believe if you see a question and don't know exactly how to start...

    SE Exam Results?

They don't tell you if you scored well enough to pass the AM or PM. Just an overall pass or fail. I believe 29/40 in the AM would be good enough for passing if you do well enough in the afternoon. However I have to think receiving 2 unacceptables in the afternoon is probably what killed me.
