    Engineering Stamp or Seal

Heh, that's pretty funny. I ought to try joke out that on my husband sometime... although he would probably respond by gladly showing me where I could stamp.

    Balcony People

Good luck to all who are taking the exam! I definitely agree with BluSkyy's comments too. I was one of those people who blanked when I read the first question, but found something that looked familiar and got the brain working and fired up and passed the 2nd time. You can do it!!! Stay calm and...

    Got my PE Results - 67 :(

Sorry to hear that. I also didn't pass my first time, and I'm not sure how it works in TX but in Tennessee they give you a diagnostic sheet showing the percentages you got correct for each area. Advice for Round 2... well for me, I took some deep breaths, took a week or so off to get all my...

    TENNESSEE - RESULTS

Yep, I live right around Nashville... so when I saw that the letters were being mailed out last week, I figured I'd find out on Saturday. I don't think I could have waited any longer.

October 2007 Exam: What you did right

    1. What exam did you take? Civil / Structural PM 2. How many hours did you study? I'm guessing about 150. I took a review course (which helped a little bit, not a whole lot) and put over 100 hours of studying on my own, maybe more. Definitely more than the 60 or so I put in the first time...

    Total Studying Time

My goal was to put 250 solid hours in but I think I ended up with much less than that - probably about 150 total. Probably around 40 hours from a review course (which I don't think helped all that much) and over 100 hours on my own. I passed, finally! The first time I took the test I maybe...

    Anyone else panicking yet?

Well, glad to know I'm semi-normal! Honestly, I know that I made mistakes in my preparation last time but it is still hard to shake the feeling of not really knowing for sure if I'm doing enough THIS time around, and kicking myself every time I get fewer hours in than I planned or struggle with...

    Anyone else panicking yet?

So... I've just realized today that there's 2 months left until the exam and I feel far from ready, even though I've been studying for the past 2 months. Part of it is because I've taken it once and felt comfortable at the time (not confident, just comfortable) and failed it, to my slight...

Should I take a review course?

There was a thread started but it didn't get many responses... but it would be great to have reviews of more courses and how each person felt about them... because I know the experience can be different for everyone.

Should I take a review course?

Wow, lots of positive feedback! Thanks everyone. I am leaning towards taking the review course but the money I guess is the main reason for me NOT to take it since I'm a little tight on funds right now... still, the possibility of taking the course and never having to sit for the exam again...

Should I take a review course?

There is a Civil PE review course being offered locally, using Kaplan materials. It is 3 hours a night for two nights a week. I'm wondering if I should take it or not... I failed the test the first time due to brushing off the stuff I didn't think I needed to study. But now I am doubting myself...

How much is too much study/reference material?

Thanks again for the additional responses. In reading these posts and others, I've realized the mistakes I made in preparing and not preparing enough, and am doing things completely differently this time around in terms of studying, references, organization (of which there was none this past...

How much is too much study/reference material?

Thanks for the responses everyone. :) I will be preparing for Civil/Structural Depth (second time). I don't have my diagnostic with me, but my weak points were member design, loading analysis, and failure analysis I think. It sucks because I felt these areas should have been stronger since I...

How much is too much study/reference material?

I was wondering about how many items of study materials everyone bought in preparation for the PE. I skimped this past time and bought just the CERM and the NCEES sample questions book, and borrowed an old Lindeburg practice problems book to work through. This time around, I'm considering...

    Best Structural Depth reference?

Thanks kevo - I would have never really considered that textbook at all for anything other than just wood design. Luckily a coworker here has it so I can just borrow it from him. Thanks so much!

    Best Structural Depth reference?

Yeah, I'm definitely not very familiar with IBC or ASCE 7 or any building design so I definitely need to look at those a little more. Thanks again!
