i don't think its even possible to get the stuff off the site via pdf. but anyways, you're not missing much, believe me

    Change of Base

i think its only because when you reference impedance, S covers the Vbase as well since S = VI. Bases are always arbitrary. one could use 1MVA or another use 1kVA, but it reflects the changes accomodated for Vbase as well. if the question called for base of whatever, then you'd probably need...

    Best of Luck

Thanks for the help everyone. Definitely with the study materials being the way they are, this helped clear some stuff up. I wish everyone the best and let's bring that curve a small notch down for the rest of us. hows that sound? haha.

    NCEES #513

it might help to check out the errata sheet for those extra 2 lines that might explain why you get amps

    NCEES Prob. # 514

thanks cable guy! I think I get it now. I think the only tough part is why you would put the voltage source in a different polarity as the circuit.

    Transformers Turn Ratios

i think in this case, it depends. the fact that the LV side needs the sqrt(3) applied is because its in Y config. when you connect the lines on an actual drawn out 3 phase config, the voltage on the Delta measures the V phase while that across the Y would be across the two lines. I think a...

    Subtracting Phasors

no you cannot. the best way is to convert back into rectangular form and do the addition/subtraction there. Only multiplication/division can be done in the polar form. or.....use the fx casio 115 from what i hear.

    NCEES Prob. # 514

Please please please. this problem is bugging me so much. I don't get why the postive sequence voltage simply just be the voltage IR at Z1. Also, is it safe to say that the short circuit current based on fault analysis is not the same thing as the current running through the components in series?

    NCEES #129

what you are thinking of is diving the complex power by 3 in a 3 phase circuit. What they the formula calls for is the current which needs no alteration for our purpose here.

would you happen to still have that copy of the 2008 NEC?

Study Group - Electrical POWER EXAM, Oct 2010

I am in San Francisco taking the CA PE exam. Any one interested in forming a study group? I'll be taking the PPI in oakland at Mills College to hopefully brush up on my material since I don't practice very much at my current job. But please feel free to contact me if anyone would like to form...
