filling out the PE application in Massachusetts

Marinna, Altering the form would be modifying the text on the document itself.  If you follow the directions above about putting a text box using Adobe, or any other PDF editor tool, you are not altering the form, your doing what they told you to do.  Just make sure your text box does not...

    Diode rectifier voltage output

I guess this is why you cannot get a P.E. from a Cracker Jack box......

    Electrical PEs

For higher engineering levels in government, they usually require you to have your PE license, for the same reason Kovz stated above regarding utility companies.  I do not do any design work, but I do know the calculations and the code to make a design work, so when I turn a project down and I...

    panic attack

It also depends on whether you want to pass the first time, or not... I have a hard time paying for something that I will have to redo and pay again! I spent two years getting all my "stuff" together, and about six months of actually sitting down and doing a few problems, and more importantly...

A good approach to PE question?

I must say I studied a completely different way, I made sure I knew the theory inside and out, I did very few problems. By doing this, it did not matter what was thrown at me, I knew how to use the correct formulas and was able to do all the problems, with enough time at the end to review all...

NEC & NESC editions for the OCT 14 Power PE

I cannot speak for the NCEES, but typically if there is a code version in print, then you would utilize the newest version of that code for the exam. In the case of the 2014 NEC, since it is in print, then yes you would want to use the 2014 codebook. Any senior folk agree with this?

PE Power - NEC Handbook or Codebook?

There is a hierarchical chain of what can be sited. Depending on your state, you can quote the "commentary" as a last resort, since it is a published document. But I digress. You have to remember, you have a limited time to do the problems in the exam, if you are used to the code book and not...

    NEC problem

I agree on article 110, except that article 110 is for "equipment" not conductors. My first thought was to look in article 310. But again, that is for wire amperage even though their are some nice charts on high voltage ducts and so forth. Knowing that it's in Article 490, I checked the index...

Freaking out with under a month to go

Agree with both SolomonB and Danadiva81. Although I have an engineering degree, I took the exam 13 years after I graduated, and some of those years I was not really focused on electrical engineering! I took the exam this past April and passed, it was my first time taking the exam! I will say...

how much is too much materials?

I had one power system analysis book, one book with lots of worked out problems, latest and greatest NEC, NCEES practice exam, and three binders with all relevant information based on the NCEES outline of "possible" subjects. I used my binders 95% of the exam.
