    Therm and Fluids Exam

I took thermo and fluids last October, where did you hear the cut-off was 35 or 36 questions? I know sometimes people figure that out on the boards here by finding the person with the highest failing test score. I just can't imagine the passing score being so low.

    Day of Test

I also took aspirin before the test, doesn't hurt, help keep away any neck pain or hand cramping. Maryland said no bags, preferred boxes, but a lot of people had bags and suitcases, they made them put them at side of room. I used one milk crate style box, when lunch came everyone had to leave...

    Day of Test

Yes on the earplugs, no on the cash for lunch, bring a lunch. I also brought a baggie of lifesavers, in case I got a cough or got hungry or something.

    With time running out...

If you need to use a psych chart, than they will give you the psych chart. Also, odds are if you need to interpret code, they will give you the code (similar to practice exams).

    With time running out...

I didn't have much trouble with NCESS practice exam, I couldn't even finish Lindeburg's practice exam.

    With time running out...

I took T&F in fall and passed first time, didn't review any machine design at all. I did about the same 70% on two practice tests. I also didn't study the day before, just took a day off got all my materials straight, Maryland wouldn't said they wouldn't let things be bagged, but a lot of...

How to study for ASHRAE look-up questions on HVAC exam

Look thru your practice exams before you study, they will give you the best idea about how code/manual or word problem questions will be asked. The test will give you the text a lot of the time, you just have to read and figure out the answer. I would suggest not using ASHRAE books for the...

    Basic questions while studying merm

Meters are usually spec'd at smaller than pipe, not sure off the top of my head, but it increases the accuracy. I don't know why, I just follow the specs, and move on to the next issue.

    Fuel and Combustion

Don't expect many on exam, look at practice tests, they will give you a rough idea of subject distribution. In Lindeburg, I only read the 1 hour problems, and din't solve any. When I was done going thru all my sections, I'd go back and take a look at those a bit more.

    Fuel and Combustion

The other problem with that section, like compressible aerodynamics, is that it isn't cumulative, knowing combustion and fuels won't help you understand other subjects on the test, meaning it's only worth studying after you get the big stuff down (basic fluids, pumps, basic thermo, cycles...

    Fuel and Combustion

I would look at 6 minute solutions and practice exams to get a better idea of the proportion and types of fuels questions that might be asked. I passed first try and really still don't know that subject well enough to solve most problems, the MERM practice guide sometimes makes certain sections...

    Review Strategies

That's a tough time frame but doable. My advice would be to rearrange your schedule some, take the week off before the week of the test, not the week of the test. So like Sat 1st practice, week off, Sat 2nd practice, work week, test. Take day or half day before test also. If you wait til...

2500 Solved Problems in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics

Reading the MERM is okay, but the 500 questions, ncess pratice exams, and 6MS will probably hit the majority of subjects. You might read all about subject A in MERM and not see a single question while studying, then you will read about subject B and get 15 combined questions, you will realize...
