    6 days! Everyone ready?

Wow, I got nervous just going to this board and I passed the October ME PE last year!  Just thought I'd check in and say good luck to all the October test takers, get ready for a really strange holiday season!

Where to get your PE stamp?

So my number is 00##### but the stamp only asks for 5 numbers, I asked some friends and got a mixed batch of results from all 7 to just the 5 that aren't zeros any rules on this? This is in CO, so I'm not sure if it changes state to state.

    Mechanical exam

The head loss and NPSHA equations/examples are great. It's hard to go into too much detail about why I found the book particularly valuable without breaking some disclosure rules.

    Mechanical exam

I agree that the MERM has entirely too much information. Thank goodness fluids/thermo is early in the merm, because I bogged down in it but it was early enough that I thought I could just plow through it, but by the time I got to heat transfer I was about to throw the thing out the window. I...

    October Pass Rates on NCEES

I wonder if people who take HVAC just work in HVAC a lot, maybe the principles on the test are very closely tied to the work folks who do that kind of design work actually do. In my office it's a mix of people taking fluids and people taking M&M, so I wonder if lack of specialization leads...

    October Pass Rates on NCEES

Dang, 75% on Fluids! There are so many jokes about HVAC being easy, I just wonder if the people who pick HVAC are active in designing it so have a bit better intuitive feel for the problems. I picked fluids because it's what I do, I imagine if I'd picked HVAC it'd have been a lot more work.  As...

    Post here if you passed

HAHA, I think all the girls at the coffee shop thought I was hitting on them, but I was just smiling ear to ear like an idiot all morning. I went to clean out my guest room/study room today and the pile of books gave me that feeling of dread that I quickly realized I don't have to worry about...

    Post here if you passed

Colorado, I've posted a few times already. I've been lurking a lot today, I think I wore out my "joy" limit with my friends.

Congrats! I remember a post where you said you felt pretty good about it, glad you passed!

    Post here if you passed

I'm gonna go with "PE" I think, even though I like the look of the P.E.  ....and yes, I've checked NCEES probably 1/2 dozen times today, still says "pass", I'm still beside myself with joy!

    Mechanical exam

The only people I know in nuclear came out of the navy. I'm in O&G right now, but it's getting hammered. I've got some good options, namely returning to the Antarctic program.

    Post here if you passed

I really felt like it helped me become a better engineer. I think I understood why I use certain assumptions in my work and also helped give me a better understanding of... well just why things are the way they are. I understand why, even if jobs don't require stamped drawings, they want...

    Cut Score revealed

It's easy, if you pass, to say "eh, I don't care if I passed by 1 point or 10". I feel like had I failed I'd be obsessed with how close I was to passing. For me now it's just a mild curiosity. I left the test fairly confident I'd passed, I'd be curious if I barely scraped by or did well, either...

For those discovering they didn't pass...

I suppose that should include a "you know yourself" disclaimer and a "your mileage may vary". I never pulled an all nighter in college or anything like that. If you're a "study 300 hours" kind of person or a "take a practice test and flip through the MERM" kind of person, you probably already...

For those discovering they didn't pass...

Well, both I guess. It's unnecessary and potentially detrimental if people are filling their brains with useless information. It's a small sample size, but the two friends I have who failed 1st time both said they felt like they studied too much without getting focused on the right stuff.
