When prep'ing for the exam, I found a lot of practice problems out there covering the whole spectrum of geotechnical engineering.  NCEES, as has been mentioned before, probably offers the closest comparison with respect to difficulty you may encounter on the exam - being as they wrote it...

Took all three and passed all three at once (April '14).  It's a tough road, but definitely possible.  Little background - I'm married, had a 2 year old and my wife was 8.5 months pregnant when I took the exam.  It was a little stressful, but I was motivated to get through all the exams at once...

Crates of any type work well.  Try to stick with two at most though.  Anything beyond that and you're likely going to be fishing through too many references to find a real answer in time. Whatever you decide, just do a dry run with the setup so you can get used to it and make any minor changes...

So the big question, RG, is what is the strangest item someone from the Boards purchased so far?

They were set to...but pcs found a few extra tests that were scored and not reported, so they're starting their audit again.
