    Which calculator for Electrical PE?

My familiarity with TI made me want to stick when them. I used a couple of other models for the FE in Oct '11, but I got the TI-36X Pro for the PE and never looked back. It's become my work calculator! The ease of use, multiview, and the speed with which you can go back and forth between forms...

    Three phase balance problem

Saw, I agree with your answer. I've heard that there are mistakes in the Schaum's power book, so I'm sure this isn't the only one. I don't think that book has been updated in several years so I'm curious what you'll get as a response. Good luck!

What Materials to study from for Electrical DS. exam

I wouldn't say it's irrelevant. But many of the questions seemed very difficult. When I say difficult, I mean that the question was totally foreign to anything you've seen while studying that topic thus far. I wouldn't say it's worthless, especially since you already ordered the book. Just take...

What Materials to study from for Electrical DS. exam

wsbeih, since you graduated 7 years ago, are you planning on taking the PE as soon as you pass the FE? If so, Wildsoldier's suggestion above is a good one. I would add that the specific Power Camara book still covers a majority of the FE material to some extent. The first half of the book covers...

You can dig deep for older editions of books too. I was sick of shelling out money for books so I looked for older editions. I wound up finding a copy of the 4th edition of the Wildi book on Amazon for like $3.99 and free shipping. I'm sure a lot has been updated in that book over the past 10...

Critique my PE power review schedule

Totally agree. I started off with a pretty similar schedule, but abandoned it by the middle of January. My strategy turned into: Just do practice exams. If you don't understand something, dig through your references until you figure it out. The key for me was getting enough practice exams to...

    PE exam prep help?

Florida is the same way. An MS counts for 12 months worth of experience toward the 48 months required to take the exam. I think I read that California counts it as 2 or 3 years though.

How long did you study for the exam ?

This is basically the way I approached it too. I took the FE in October and I really kept track of hours studied and all that jazz. But that doesn't really work for me and it wound up forcing me to sit there and half-study (you know, when the book is in front of you but your eyes are kind of...

How long did you study for the exam ?

I would say that I didn't go out of my way to memorize a thing, but if you do enough practice tests, you run into the same concepts over and over. Some of those formulas I think will be in my head from now till the grave. For the NEC, I tried to use Ugly's first but then also find everything in...

Well, how did everyone feel about the April 2012 Exam?

I came out feeling pretty solid as well. I did the practice tests for PPI, CI, Spinup, and the official NCEES one twice apiece and had them all basically memorized. I really thought the actual test was much more difficult than anything I had encountered up to that point, but I also felt like...
