    Home Improvement/Repair Questions

I plan on renting an excavator and have truck/trailer to move it. Prelim pool dimensions put me at around 100 CY so even with some place to go with the spoil I'll still have to get a small dump truck to haul it.I think the typical load is about 14 CY. I'll have to price that out for sure. If I...

    Home Improvement/Repair Questions

So I have recently purchased a new home and we will be closing in a couple weeks. I have been doing some research and think I may have convinced myself that I can install my own inground pool. I would be purchasing all the same materials the pros use online and likely going with an inground...

    Whatcha Playin?

I don't know if I could make it through that one again. Towards the end the mandatory horse riding was like nails on a chalkboard to me. Awesome game but I'm to impatient.

Any pass the WR Exam performing bad in environmental section?

It's a fairly large part of the afternoon. Doing accurate conversions and utilizing the flow-rate of solids equation will take you a long way but just depends on this particular exam. Mine had a good deal of the chemistry aspect as well.

how to interpolate an IDF curve?

Using above methodology the 25 year storms curve would be just slightly above the 20 year storm which is incorrect. In reality it would be roughly half way between the 20 and 50 year events. From the chart I get 20 = 5.8,  50 = 6.9 (6.9-5.8)/2=.55 (average) 5.8+.55=6.35 (20 yr event + avg.) ...

    hydrographs?

Oh okay. To better visualize this assume you have 2 identical unit hydrographs in the same plot. The first begins at T=0. The second doesn't begin until T=12. Therefore when when the second hydrograph reaches T=15 it has only been producing runoff for 3 hours.    Soooo those are supposed to be...

    hydrographs?

Okay so I'm assuming you are just looking for an explanation on the scaling? If not please let me know.  So to get the solution they went to the hydrograph constructed based on the 4.37 cm precip and found Q = 35 m^3/s at 15 hrs and 10 m^3/s at 3 hrs.  Keeping in mind these values are for 4.37...

Calling yourself an engineer without a PE

Stuff like this is just a little annoying to me coming from the heart of oilfield country. Everyone is an "engineer" in the oilfield no matter what they actually do.  I know I'm probably being Petty Mayonnaise on this but still bugs me.
