I would like to know how much useful this book is for the preparation of SE-1 exam:
Title: Bridge Design for Civil and Structural PE Exam (Third Edition)
ISBN: 159126175
Thanks for your inputs in advance.
Other than Kaplan 3-book combo, is there any recommendation of practice books for SE-II preparation. I found this book: 345 Solved Seismic Design Problems
I appreciate any opinion / suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

I come from building design and trying to prepare for bridge design portion of SE-1. I do have the latest SERM. However, I would like to have some recommendation for bridge design reference book that refers to AASHTO LRFD 3re edition. I think the exam memory is still be fresh enough to get...
If upper stories posse more or less the same rigidity as the lower ones, 12.2.3.1 mentions to use the least of all R values we got. (which is 3 in our case).
However, if upper story/stories are flexible compared to the lower ones with two conditions for "two-stage procedure" are met; the...
Hromis1,
I do agree with you about Masonry Design Guide. I did buy some of the SK Ghosh code masters today.
BTW, what do you think about masonry coverage in SERM? Is it enough or not for SE-I? What to refer to for masonry portion in SE-II?
Thanks,
G. O.
I don't know what proportion of overall questions would come from Masonry Design in SE-I & SE-II exams. Also, could anybody recommend a useful reference book on Masonry Design for a person like me who has no experience with it and preparing for both the exams?
Thanks for all responses in...
Hromis1,
I did have the same book and don't find it much useful from the exam perspective. Do you get any recommendation for a reference book on Masonry Design? If so, please let me know.
Thanks,
G. O.
I need to design some unconventional steel connections based on the specific structural need. Can anybody suggest some good reference / text book based on ASD / LRFD method referring to AISC Steel Manual, Rev. 13.
Thank you for your response.

PIYA,
Out of two books you mentioned, is any one useful for SE-1 bridge portion preparation. I wish to take building section for SE-II.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks McEngr. It looks like there isn't any book exclusively written on Foundation Design from structural view.
I indeed appreciate if anybody further shares info on the same line.
G.O.
Hi McEngr,
Thanks for reply.
I do have the Das book which is good to understand soil properties and behavior. The 'Foundation Engineering Handbook' based on IBC 2006 seems to be on the same line. I wish if I have a good book on "Foundation design" (from structural point of view) that can also...
