Thank you sir for the feedback, I am gonna take the ICC Welding exam and after I get more experience I most likely will take the CWI exam.

    Billable hours

At my small firm, we bill out approximately 160-220 hours per month/engineer. We are a geotechnical/construction engineering firm and I wanted to get a feel for what was normal with other firms? I've only worked for one firm and would like to know what other firms are doing on an hourly/engineer...

ICC Welding Certification vs AWS CWI

That is how it is in my area in Tennessee, I am one of the few that have any of the ICC Certifications. I am going ahead and studying to do the ICC Welding since I just passed the Structural Bolting Exam. I thought my studying days were behind once I passed the PE, boy was I wrong lol

ICC Welding Certification vs AWS CWI

Special inspection as a whole has finally started to be a requirement in our area. I don't know if it deals with better educated building officials or what but anyhow I am looking at which certification I should look at getting? We do a great deal of inspection work for our quality control...

Would your firm hire someone with an engineering degree outside your field?

Those fields make sense to me, at my firm recently we hired someone with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He is related to the branch manager which is how he got the job but it still has me scratching my head how that will work out. We focus in civil/geotechnical work primarily

Would your firm hire someone with an engineering degree outside your field?

I wanted to hear other thoughts on it, would you or your firm hire someone who did graduate with an Engineering degree but in a different field from what you practice? Assume it's from an ABET accredited intitution and the individual has not taken the FE.

    October Pass Rates on NCEES

If you look back at previous pass rates for construction it always been the lowest or close to the lowest passing rate for civil. I don't think I have seen a pass rate above 60% for it.

PPI and ASCE emails fortell anything?

They mean absolutely nothing but frequently are used to gauge how stressed someone is about the results. I think if you contact PPI about anything you get put in the spam mail system.

Mine didn't change after I donated Friday. This board definitely helped me keep my sanity.

    PE Notes and References

I definitely recommend EET. I remember at least two or three class sessions that I had where I had a "light bulb" moment and was like damn this class was worth the price. The depth notebook never left my desk during the exam
