    WA SE III Results

Thanks kevo! It’s interesting to see how the WA board handles the letters to us. I believe the board is rescoring the candidates within a few +/- points of the cut score, and they have sent letters to us who are not in this range. This morning I sent them an e-mail asking for an electronic...

    WA SE III Results

The count down clock shows 19 days left, not for the exams in April!

    WA SE III Results

I feel the same too. The longer the wait, the more hope diminishes. By the time we receive our results, people will be talking how they did in the new 16-hour exams. Probably we all did well in the exam, well above the graders’ expectations and they’re having trouble in getting us down to the...

    WA SE III Results

I'm still optimistic that the results will be out towards the end of January this year. I think grading was done much earlier than usual. Mark my words, January 21st, 2011 will be the day we all know the results :) Sadly, 80% of us will be disappointed :(

    WA SE III Results

How did you find out there were that many examines this year? If this is true, then I agree it would be tough to grade everyone in one day!!

    Load Combinations

I just happened to find this article talking about this. see link (page 16, hope it works): http://gostructural.epubxpress.com/wps/por...zFvA!!/

New 2-day structural exam next year

I thought the CA Board had approved to adopt the new 16-hour exams. see the link below: http://www.pels.ca.gov/about_us/meetings/09aprmin.pdf

    Load Combinations

I would follow ASCE 7 Section 12.4.3.2 for load combinations with overstrength factor. It seems to me that this was an overlook in IBC 2006. In IBC 2009, these clauses are re-written in section 1605.1.

    Codes for CA Sesimic

IBC and CBC are almost identical; I don't think you need CBC for that if you have a copy of IBC. I flew to CA for the two state-specific exams as well. I had everything fit in my carry-on luggage including 6 books for the two exams (main body of ASCE 7, portion of IBC and Hiner's book for...

    Codes for CA Sesimic

I see your point, EnVEngineer. However it's a lot of efforts to study these codes. When I took it last April, the lookup type questions were more from ASCE 7 and IBC.

    Codes for CA Sesimic

I respectfully disagree. Mook, structural guys like you should pass the CA seismic exam with ease, but I do think that the seismic exam may be a bit tough, even a bit unfair, for non-structural civil people. All you need are the ASCE 7, IBC (Chapters >=16) and Steve Hiner's seismic review...
