On one hand, I believe it is worth the effort as a step towards getting a PE license. On the other hand, I don't think the exam proved much in terms of how well I did my job - just that I could pass a general knowledge engineering exam.

I was curious about that as well. I noticed that people whose license numbers came before and after mine received their licenses in 2007 which was incidentally the year that I registered for the exam. Do you think license numbers are set aside for us when we register for the exam?

It's three year before you have to re-register with the state board. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of times you can take the exam in those three years.

IF DPOR is having the same problem acknowledging your registration as they are in updating the license registry, then you might be in for a long wait.

Ditto. I couldn't imagine passing the Power exam without studying.

I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense. Having PE after your name does improve your chances of getting a hired or getting a better position.
