Hmm...can't seem to edit. I just noticed this was in Civ. Eng. Thats what I get for looking at recent new posts and blindly replying.

Exam- Did you finish all questions? Six mins per question?

I am a good test taker. I had more than ample time for both AM and PM. I answered every question in the first hour of each portion, went back, double checked, made minor changes (5 or so answers). Finished in ~2.5 hours for each half.

I Got 999 First World Problems

The gas pumps here automatically shut off when you reach $100. So annoying having to replace the nozzle, re-swipe the card, and start pumping for that last $20.

    Which exam should I take?

I prepared by myself. Took the NCEES practice exam in 2 - 4 hour sessions with only the EERM 5th edition as reference. Score the exam, focused studying where I needed it. I also bought the Kaplan PE Electrical & Electronics Engineering Problems and Solutions and PE Electrical &amp...

    Which exam should I take?

I took the electronics exam because I have no work experience in 3 phase, relay schemes, grid stuff, etc... I found the electronics exam was very similar to my undergrad studies. Although the exam is more broad, antennas/em to computers/boolean logic, the questions are supposed to be...

    Full-wave Bridge Rectifier Question

I am more confused about the 105VDC. Do you have any DC bus capacitors? Fullwave rectified, smoothed will get you ~170VDC, 120*root(2), open circuit. What are you using to measure the voltage?

    EIT certification not showing up

I had a similar issue in Illinois. I spoke to the board, they said I would have to retake the FE... screw that. Ended up talking with someone else, just had to send them $20 and my licensed status showed up 2 weeks later on their website.

Is it hard for a new grad to get a job out of state?

In my experience, no. I was in Dekalb, IL, 1.5 hours west of Chicago. I received an offer from a company in Boston, before I even finished my degree.

    Anyone take Electrical & Electronics?

I ended up working the NCEES and Kaplan problems during 4 hour/40 problem windows. Worked with my references stacked up next to the table to mimic the testing conditions as realistic as possible. During studying I found the 4 hours to be too long, and experienced the same in the exam. Passed...
