Would you like to play a key role supporting the safety of in-service fast jets for the RAF? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Systems Safety Engineer at our site in Warton.

As a Senior Systems Safety Engineer, you will be working within a small, dedicated team of Systems Safety Engineers covering all aspects of the platform safety management system on the Typhoon aircraft.

This role will provide you with the chance to work with cutting edge defence technology, as well as the opportunity to become a safety specialist within the aerospace domain.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Systems Safety Engineer will involve: 

The generation and maintenance of programme safety management systems in accordance with project governed standards and external product standards

Complex aviation system /support product design hazard identification/analysis

The risk assessment and management of emergent safety issues arising from operation of the product in service

Generating system safety design requirements and associated update of equipment/sub-system/system specifications

Generating platform safety case/system safety assessment/assurance reports

The maintenance of product hazard logs

Fault tree and zonal hazard analysis

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Systems Safety Engineer:

Essential:

Experience with safety management techniques including HAZID (Hazard Identification) and tools such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), HAZOP or Structured What IF Techniques (SWIFT)

Product safety experience gained from a complex engineering environment, such as: aerospace, defence, nuclear, oil & gas, automotive, power etc.

Desirable:

Educated to degree level or equivalent, candidates who have experience to offset this requirement may also be considered

Experience working on the design of complex, integrated products and systems with an understanding of how the non-functional properties are managed on such systems

Aviation experience within an avionics, air-vehicle, flight systems, missions systems, ground support products or overall weapons system domain
