I failed Civil Transpo and would LOVE to know the cut score. If enough people calculate and post their scores, we can home in on it. Assume 8 questions in each of the 5 AM topics. For PM, use following percentages of questions (from NCEES 2008 Sample Questions & Solutions, pp. 21-22):

Traffic Analysis 22.5% (9 questions); Geom Dgn: 30% (12 questions); Transp Planning 7.5% (3 questions); Traffic Safety 15% (6 questions); Other Topics 25% (10 questions). As an example, here is my calculation:

AM:

Construction, 20% of session (8 questions) x 63% (from diagnostic) = 5 correct

Geotech, 20% of session (8 questions) x 38% = 3 correct

Structural 20% of session (8 questions) x 88% = 7

Transp 20% of session (8 questions) x 100% = 8

WR & Env, 20% of session (8 questions) x 88% = 7

Total AM 30 correct out of 40 (75%)

PM:

Traf Anlys, 22.5% of session (9 questions) x 67% (from diagnostic) = 6 correct

Geom Dgn, 30% of session (12 questions) x 75% = 9

Transp Plan, 7.5% of session (3 questions) x 67% = 2

Traf Safety, 15% of session (6 questions) x 17% = 1

Other, 25% of sessions (10 questions) x 40% = 4

Total PM 22 correct out of 40 (55%)

Total exam 52/80 (65%) = FAIL

I did not finish the PM and had to guess at about 10, which is reflected in the above results, espcially the last two areas (Traffic Safety and Other).

Haven't gotten my results yet... but I took Transpo and I'm not optimistic. 65 is so close, looks like you just have to bone up on Geotech and Traff Safety and you've got it in the bag for October!

I did not know there where different cut scores for each exam you take in the PM. (const, geotec, structures, transp, wr/env).

If you get 56/80 (70%) You are guaranteed Passing, right?

So, it seems like you were very close, at most 4 questions off if no curve.

I failed with a score of 66. My diagnostics were as follows:

AM:

Construction, 20% of session (8 questions) x 38% (from diagnostic) = 3 correct

Geotech, 20% of session (8 questions) x 75% = 6 correct

Structural 20% of session (8 questions) x 62% = 5

Transp 20% of session (8 questions) x 100% = 8

WR & Env, 20% of session (8 questions) x 38% = 3 (I have NO CLUE what happened here?!)

Total AM 25 correct out of 40 (63%)

PM:

Traf Anlys, 22.5% of session (9 questions) x 56% (from diagnostic) = 5 correct

Geom Dgn, 30% of session (12 questions) x 58% = 7

Transp Plan, 7.5% of session (3 questions) x 67% = 2

Traf Safety, 15% of session (6 questions) x 100% = 6

Other, 25% of sessions (10 questions) x 70% = 7

Total PM 27 correct out of 40 (68%)

Total exam approx. = 52/80 (66% - that's what VA reported my score as) = FAIL
