Hey guys,

The Shorebrook PE power exam briefly touches on but does not elaborate on discharging coils between phases in a high-voltage transmission line. I tried to look this up more since I'm honestly not familiar with this discharging coil connected between 2 phases, but can't seem to find much on this.

Can anyone elaborate more on or have some literature on discharging coils connected between 2 phases?

Thanks!

what problem number is this?

This is Question 37 on the Shorebrook Exam.
Discharging coil can be found in a capacitor bank protection. They are typically use to discharge any residue from the capacitor after the bank is switched off due to fault or any other situation that the capacitor bank needs to be out of service.
