So about 2 months ago our IT overlords put into place a web filter. Up until then we had almost free reign of the intertubes. This cut down the sites I regularly visted at work by about 75%. I never visited **** or anything but I did tend to spend a fair amount of time on fantasy football and playing games on Sporcle.

Depending on my work load i have a few hours to kill on some days and Im getting really bored of clicking refresh on the same 5 websites.

So my question to you guys is what sites that you visit have you found get past your companies web filters? Sports and game sites are pretty much out. I dont mind just sitting and reading the news as long as its something new other then same crap Ive been looking at.

Do you check Drudge Report? That's where I get a lot of my news because instead of spinning stuff, it just links to different viewpoints of the same story.

I just bought a Droid phone so I use that for my internet stuff while at work. We're not strictly managed on where we go, just how much we use it. So if I want to spam the 10k and not get fired, I'm better off doing it from the phone.

Ive heard of it but never read it. Its book marked now. Thanks.

Keep the ideas coming.
Drudge is spun pretty hard to the right, if you catch my drift.

GMInsidenews, blueovalnews, and allpar are pretty good if you are into American Cars.

VWVortex for Vdubs

I was on vwvortex for a while, but that site got lame really quick.

If you like the new camaros, try out camaro5.com.

I never hit VWvortex much. Just knew it was there.

thirdgen.org is really good if you're into third generation F-bodies.

ours is fairly limited, i keep waiting for this one to go.. I usually just check news sites, here, gmail, and some others..

I find it interesting though is that our wifi doesnt have any filters, one day I had to bring my personal laptop in and found out that facebook, youtube, etc, all is good to go through the wifi (& I dont really konw why we have it but its kind of nice) especially when working weekend and nights and such ****...

Transamcountry.com is pretty good if you're into second generation pontiac F-bodies (there is some tolerance for the chebbie guys too but I think their biggie is Z28.com)

I use my iphone if I have to get on a website thats blocked here at work. Its just a lot of eye strain staring at that thing for a few hours though.

The project Im working on right now is going to wrap up in the next couple weeks and Ill probably have a fair amount of down time.

Ive tried logging onto the company wifi and its protected with a password that Im not important enough to be given.

Those look cool.
Got out of Vdubs in 1986 after my 66 died.

I mostly hit local forums, and car stuff.
Too bad. My dad's '70 died... again... several years ago. He has been leaning towards rebuilding the 1641, but I think I'm slowly convincing him to drop in a Subaru EJ205 engine and transmission. It'd be more fun anyway.

The thing is, it costs so much to get decent power out of the air-cooled VW. Which Subie motor is that? Corvair swaps were still big when mine died, but that would make for one ***-happy nazi wagon.

I've heard you can swap a 13B rotary into them. That's be a riot.

Meh, rotaries are a pain in the *** and muy expensive. To me, it's not worth the cussing involved.

The Subaru EJ205 is in '02-'06 WRX. Makes decent power for a 3400 pound car, but OMG power for an 1800 pound tin can VW. They're turbo 2L 4-banger boxer engines, but water cooled and fit under the standard decklid with no cutting. I REALLY want to get a later model EJ255 (2.5L) WRX or STi engine, but that involves a little cosmetic surgery that is masked by the decklid. I'd rather not cut any metal.
