This has always confused me, when are we suppose to choose between the table method of trial and error S>L and L>S vs. the K value method based on speed for finding the minimum or required length of vertical curve? Thanks

I would use K-value table, if I have not enough info to calculate the formula method. In this case you can have quick educated guess. May be I am wrong, that what I am doing, at least formula could give you more accurate answer.
