Civil PE job duties at local agency

Hello,

I work at a public research agency. I plan on getting my PE soon and then looking for a job at a local agency. Coming from a long-track of research background, I have limited knowledge about day to day job responsibilities of a Civil PE. 

Any input based on your experience will be appreciated.
