Hi. Im currently at community college. I accidentally got a zero un an english class because i didnt withdraw in time. Please look at my transcript and let me know what you think. If i get good grades and stay an extra 2 semesters at community college then transfer to wayne state university can i still be a successful engineer even though i have several W's on my transcript because i was homeless. Heres my transcript: first column in the grades. Second is how many credits the class is worth.

I am sorry to hear about your struggles. In short, yes you can absolutely still be a successful engineer with a few mishaps in your grades.

I would suggest reaching out to an advisor at the community college and pleading your case to see if you can get the "W"s removed, or at least wiped after retaking the course?

Either way, once you get your bachelor's degree, grades only matter for applying for your masters, and maybe your first job out of college. It looks like you're doing well in the courses that apply to engineering, so definitely keep at it. If it's something you are passionate about, you will find a way to make it happen. I would definitely get in touch with an advisor at the college you want to transfer to as well, to verify exactly what the requirements are for you to transfer efficiently.

Good luck in your endeavor!

With a 3.7 GPA I don't think you'll have any trouble getting into Wayne State.  I'd suggest looking to other schools as well.  If you want to stay in the Detroit area, Oakland, Lawrence Tech, UM Dearborn are all good options for engineering.  Keep in mind a lot of engineers aren't so good at the humanities so it's not all that unusual for an engineer to have less than average grades in those classes.
