If you’re looking to develop in an interesting and challenging Systems Engineering role, this opportunity in New Malden could be for you.

As a Systems Engineer, you will be working with the Combat Management Systems (CMS) and Shared Infrastructure (SI) teams to develop these exciting products. We produce software in house and combine this with commercial products and hardware. Our CMS products provide situational awareness and weapon control to meet multiple emergent threats in blue water and littoral operations. SI, our new state of the art computing equipment, has the capability to access all software, such as the CMS, navigation, communications and sonar, needed to operate the ship's combat systems through a single console.

This role offers the opportunity to work with complex systems for Warships, Aircraft Carriers and Submarines, making it a varied, fascinating life at work. Our contracts can span decades, so if you’re talented and committed, we will have work for you for many years to come.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

As this is a junior role, we understand that the most critical thing you need to do is learn: learn how we do things, learn how our systems fit together, learn new skills and learn how to make the best system you can. We will try to help you as much as possible to achieve your goals.

The exact nature of your role will depend upon matching your experience, skills and aspirations to the work required but could include:

·Assisting in the design of new elements of our Combat Management Systems
· Helping advise software and hardware teams, to ensure the overall system meets its aims
·Supporting integration trials at dedicated sites or on ship
·Enhancing the capability of the products through analysis of system behaviour and functional requirements
·Conducting technical investigations
· Helping identify improvements, both to the way we do things and to make our systems better
· Ensuring that we deliver a functional, safe and reliable system

You’ll be working under the direction of the Systems team leader and other senior team members. We pride ourselves on our culture; we work collaboratively and support each other when someone needs help. We have some hugely talented, experienced engineers who are available to help the teams and guide their development.

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

You will need to demonstrate knowledge in at least some of the following disciplines:

· System Acceptance Management
· Configuration Management
· Human Factors
· Interface Analysis
· Performance Analysis
· Requirements Analysis
· System Design
· Testing Improvements
· Trials & Integration Support

Ideally, you’ll have experience working in a multi-project environment, working with complex systems in an IT, Engineering or defence industry.

What we are looking for:

You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well as part of a team.

You must be willing to occasionally work off-site at land-based combat system integration sites, supplier sites and on-board Royal Navy platforms as part of this role.
