    Michigan results

Wow! How did the old rules differ, just out of curiosity? The current revision looks easier, at least in the sense that they seem to require less onerous verification of work experience.

When You Should Add PE After Your Name

Wow! Yes, that would make a big difference. You were on the ball. I had electronic copies of my transcripts ready to submit, but I didn't have the reference form ready to go because I didn't want to tell any of my co-workers I'd taken the test if I didn't pass (which given my lax approach to...

April 2019 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

FWIW on the "8 years of experience" thing, that's also how Michigan frames it... so it's not just the crazy West Coast: "Provide documentation of at least 8 years of professional experience in engineering work acceptable to the board of professional engineers, including not more than 5 years...

When You Should Add PE After Your Name

Wow, really? When did you submit your materials? I sent mine in the evening scores were released and still haven't heard back...

    April 2019 Pass Rates

Looks like it was a very good year to be taking (and especially re-taking!) HVAC, as opposed to the other PE Mechanical sub-categories...

    Michigan results

Passed Mechanical: TFS! I think it was probably a close one--I went into it without studying (other than flipping through the MERM the night before to figure out the location of the conversion tables and rough order of topics). Since we've got a state thread, now... anyone filed their...

April 2019 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

Hm. The law seems to imply otherwise, but of course I'm an engineer, not a lawyer... (1) Professional engineer - A graduate of an approved engineering curriculum of four academic years or more from a school or college approved by the board, and who has had four or more years of experience of a...

April 2019 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

How much education does Ohio let you count, though? I assume at least 4 years if not more? I ended up taking it in Michigan rather than Ohio or Indiana largely because registration is much cheaper ($75 initial fee which covers the first year, then $40/year after that), but if it's 8 years with...

    April 2019 TFS Feedback

You weren't the guy who forgot his calculator, I hope? 😉 Any idea how long it takes the Michigan board to process stuff? I paid my fees and emailed in my transcripts and reference yesterday. The auto-response said "4-6 weeks" which seems a little excessive.

    Michigan PE License Application

I'm also interested in this. They appeared to have assigned a number as soon as the application was submitted, but the application itself isn't complete (I sent in transcripts and work verification forms yesterday electronically but they don't show as received, or at least not processed, yet).

The ones who passed tell us how you did.

That’s extremely impressive. I took the same test and that was not my experience. Congrats!

The ones who passed tell us how you did.

I guessed a lot (I also did not study at all—so that is probably not a coincidence) although many of those were “educated guesses” where I was able to eliminate one or two answers as definitely wrong, which improves the odds. I gave a fuller description here:

Congrats! If you studied at all you deserve it much more than I do. Which location did you test at? Lansing here.

    April 2019 Mechanical TFS results

Pass, so no raw score to report, but it was ME: TFS, from Michigan.  I did make an estimate of my likely raw score and came up with 52-60, so I was probably on the edge:

April 2019 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

To be fair, I'm an engineering professor... although I don't teach anything that is directly relevant for more than maybe 10/80 questions.  I did flip through the MERM the night before the test to try to roughly familiarize myself with the order that the sections were in and where the tables of...
