Best of luck with your studies!

PPI SE Course, anyone taking it?

Woohoo, good to see School of PE on here interacting with engineers. The more support from the various review course providers the better. I believe PPI's marketing people also view these forums as well. I am of course biased as well, but mostly in that I only have personal experience with PPI...

PPI SE Course, anyone taking it?

It is worth mentioning that the last PPI course survey we did got 28 out of 30 people rating the course as 4 to 5 out of 5 and only 1 of those 30 wouldn't recommend the course. Obviously any review course is full of compromises but I think PPI has struck a decent balance between cost, time...

PPI SE Course, anyone taking it?

Glad your boss appreciated my efforts, that sort of recommendation is what makes me sad I left. Unfortunately all I could manage was 3 years teaching that course; it's a challenge to teach and was just taking too much time out of my year to be worth it. Of course the other instructor is still...

PPI SE Course, anyone taking it?

Up until this spring I used to teach it. Any specific questions you have?

    Load Percentage

This. If it's a double channel for the box beam then it's definitely Hyatt Regency. That's a case study all structural engineers should be familiar with.

    SE Title

I waited until I got licensed in MA which has a roster designation and lists your discipline on your stamp until I put SE after my name but I feel I could legally have done it before then. I then got licensed in IL to get a "true" SE license as a feather in my cap sort of deal.

    Illinois SE Wall Certiticate

I just printed out the PDF certificate they gave me on some high quality paper. If there's a better certificate out there I'd like to get one for framing.

Issue of License After Test results

That's to get the license. You should get assigned a license number right away (within a week I would guess); at that point I would say it's official and you can go ahead an order stamps and call yourself an SE (in my opinion).

    Later loads references

Get the ACI conversion charts for ACI 318-11 to ACI 318-14 and vise versa. This will help translate any documents that reference the 2011 and previous ACI codes and find the relevant sections in ACI 318-14.

    SE Results are Out

Certainly wouldn't feel too bad about that score. A handful more morning problems and I bet you'll get it. Hit the books again and you definitely got a great chance for the 2nd try.

    SE Results are Out

Similar for Maine, we had one from Canada and two from Maine when I took the SE lateral. A lot less people and most sit for just the PE exam.

    SE Results are Out

Ooof, not fun for sure but a lot of us have been there. Still you now know what worked for your studies and what didn't you'll now be able to double down and be twice as prepared next time. Working problems was what helped me pass the most when I didn't pass the first time. I like your idea of...

    October 2017 PE Results Out

For the Winter results I believe they've always got them out earlier; probably due to the upcoming holidays if I had to guess.

Definitely do this. If enough people comment on that problem NCEES may give credit for multiple answers and improve everyones score.

    April 2018 Exams - ACI 318-14

I've only found minor edits and errata changes between the 2015 and 2012 editions of SEAOC. I would not go purchase a new edition if you already have the 2012 SEAOC.

Almost positive it's based on solution steps.

    NCEES SE practice prob 121

    This was addressed in errata.

What would you do the last week before the exam?

Lots of great suggestions. The Structural Engineering Reference Manual has a good checklist of items to bring or do (some are very silly, but most are very practical) . Make sure you balance your sleep schedule the nights before. Get your sleep schedule setup for the time you need to get up for...

2012 IBC Structural/Seismic Design Manual Volume 1: Code Application Examples

Yes. There is almost no difference from what I found.
