Civil Construction PE Prep - Second Attempt

I passed it on my 4th time.  First off, keep your head up and keep busting your butt.  You'll get it!  I didn't take EET so I can't speak to any of their materials, but I'd like to recommend a few resources that help tremendously with the construction depth exam.   1.  Goswami "All-In-One" exam...

ASCE Membership - Is it worth it?

ASCE membership was heavily discounted for college students when I was in school, and one of our professors offered anyone who signed up an automatic half-a-letter grade increase, so obviously I signed up.  That was 8 years ago and last year I ended up letting it lapse.  I thought I'd go in and...

Pretty sure this is a big no-no.

Take a penny leave a penny

I join forces with Nicholas Cage to steal the Liberty Bell penny from the pile because we believe it will lead to another treasure, and we replace the Liberty Bell penny with a replica pressed penny. There is now a single national monument pressed penny, one railway track pressed penny, and a...

    Order of the Engineer

This is a tradition at the college I attended as well.  Anyone senior who was about to graduate who wanted to go through the ceremony and receive a ring could sign up.  It was about an hour long.  Basically a few faculty spoke, then one of them talked about the history of the ceremony/ring, and...

Just Submitted My Experience to NCEES

I started mine on 12/16 and the only thing left is for Indiana to verify my license.  Everything moved pretty quickly surprisingly.  All of my references were quick to sign off.  My supervisor verified my work experience yesterday afternoon and this morning NCEES marked that portion as approved...

PE Exam April 2020, Preparation Courses

Civil Engineering Academy's Ultimate Civil PE Review Course gets an A++++++ in my book.  They focus heavily on the breadth portion of the exam, but the course does include practice exams and video problems for all of the depth options as well.  It's an affordable course too.  Check them out.

    Civil Engineering Academy Prep Course

Civil Engineering Academy's Ultimate Civil PE Review Course I haven't seen much mention of this course on the forums so I thought I would share some information for those who are preparing for the Civil PE Exam.  I passed the October 2019 Civil Construction exam on my 4th go-around and I credit...

Civil P.E. First Time - Help Needed

The construction exam is as brutal as they say it is.  Trust me, I took it 4 times before finally passing.  The thing is, if construction is what you know best then you're probably best sticking with that when choosing the exam you'll take.   As far as courses go, I was not a huge fan of...

    Hello!

Hey there, I'm also a fellow Hoosier and October 2019 exam destroyer.  It was hard, but well worth it!  That's what she said. Congrats! 💪

    ACI MNL 15-16

I can honestly say this is the one reference I never purchased for the exam.  I passed the October 2019 exam without it.  It's a very expensive book and is the ONLY reference I skipped purchasing.  Obviously I didn't need it.  I was able to answer all 40 PM questions without it.

Construction PM - Construction Operations & Methods Reference Books

I would definitely find a copy of "Construction Planning, Equipment, and Methods" by Robert Peurifoy.  This was a college textbook for me and I brought it with me to the exam just in case it was useful.  It has step-by-step examples for various operations (dozers, graders, etc.).  This book...

    Failing Blues - Advice/Recommendations?

First off, an exam does not determine one's intelligence or ability to do one's job.  Just because you can't pass the PE doesn't mean you're a failed engineer.  You have to keep trying.  Perseverance is key.   Secondly, if you want the best chance of passing the exam you really need to shell...

Civil Construction PE Prep - Second Attempt

Do you have all of the required reference materials called out in the NCEES exam guidelines for the Construction depth?  I can guarantee that having those books landed me an easy 12 questions on the exam in October. I highly recommend Civil Engineering Academy's "Ultimate Civil PE Review...
