Going back to school pride, I think those with it were more involved in sports and all the happenings with that. 

I often see these at Marshall's. Often they are "imperfect" so there is no lifetime guarantee, but they are also about half price. Wool is a good material for warm socks!

I used to live in an apartment that was slab on concrete, and the furnace blew air from ceiling registers so my feet were always cold. I've used these ultra thick insulating socks, which help. I also have a pair of fuzzy moccasins (kinda like uggs) and they work better. My feet can get sweaty...
