The funny thing we see about DG stores is that they are placed in complete off-the-wall locations. But they stay packed with people. Talk about coming out of the woodworks!! And the "walmart for small towns" moniker is right. My parents live in a small town in south Alabama, and my mom calls...

I am with RG here. We try to avoid Wal-Mart if possible. And we usually will stop in a Dollar General over the other two, although a Family Dollar just opened on the route home.

Our psuedo-grandma next door neighbor has the kids so the wife and I have dinner reservations.

Yeah I dropped off some of my son's baseball gear there, but they had so much inventory that I think I walked out of there with 2 less items and $6.

I talked to a buddy of mine, and he hiked the AT starting at the Southern terminus and coming off the trail just this side of the Smoky Mountain National Forest. He has not commented back as to how the hike was terrain-wise.

I know an older gentleman who hiked the entire AT going South/North, then biked it back.

I know a few guys that have hiked a good portion of the AT in NC. Let me see if I can find some info for you.
