April 2021 SE Exam Results Thread

Just tested this out - if I go to NCEES website it doesn't have the chat. If I go to NCEES website in incognito then it DOES have the chat. Clearly I have been banned.

April 2021 SE Exam Results Thread

Just called the Utah Board - they said they didn't have them yet, but the person I talked to didn't exactly sound like she would have been the first to know.

Yes I agree, but it is worth noting that this wasn't just a chat bot, this was via email and was an Exam administration coordinator

Since I didn't have chat I had to email them and got this (pretty quick) response.

Has anyone else noticed that the NCEES chat hasn't been available yesterday or today? For some reason I really miss them telling me it will be 8-10 weeks for results everytime I ask.

Is the AISC Seismic Design Manual essential to have for the SE lateral exam?

@Reed D asked a legitimate question for someone who hasn't done seismic design in steel before - no need to rake them through the coals for asking a question.

Is the AISC Seismic Design Manual essential to have for the SE lateral exam?

In my opinion there are many time saving tables in the SDM. You may be able to get by without it but I think it is way more useful than the masonry codes that you said you didn't use.

Isn't this showing when the PE results have come out vs when the SE scoring session is? In this cycle the PE results came out during the SE scoring session.

If it were in person grading I would have a pizza sent over to the NCEES building right now

NCEES just released June 2021 Licensure Exchange newsletter. The PE Structural grading workshop is scheduled for June 2-4th (a week earlier than I was expecting). https://ncees.org/wp-content/uploads/3_June-2021-LEx.pdf

    Post Exam Period

Yeah the PE results are usually released on the same day or day before the SE results. Probably start checking in 2-3 weeks.

Structural References for PE Civil Structural Depth or SE Exam

I have the following references. Note that all of these are for the 2015 IBC/AASHTO 7th edition which is what the PE Civil Structural Depth is based on (the SE Exam has moved on to the 2018 IBC and 8th edition of AASHTO). Structural Engineering Reference Manual by Alan Williams, 9th ed. - $100...

Why I think that the cut score is actually much lower than 28/40

Since I am no longer studying for the SE Exam I have been thinking about the cut score. And I drew a graph. I apologize for it not being digital but it just happened so fast. The x-axis is the AM score The y-axis is the PM score. I put the PM scores in an order that made the most sense to me...

    Design Specifications Updates

@David Connor SE - Any book update?
  17. E

Well that was fun... now what?

After the PM portion of the lateral exam, 4 of my fellow examinees all stood up, looked at each other, and basically all said at the same time "What in the world was that Xth question all about?". I think there were many obvious errors in the exam this time (to be fair I am sure they will find...

Agreed. It was a pain last time and I was hoping it would have changed by now with many people being vaccinated ....
