Pulling sheets out of your binder during the exam?

In Tx, anything loose or any writing on any of your notes you will get screamed at and probably escorted out.

Changing Disciplines for PE Exam.... Anyone accomplished this?

I have failed the exam  more than 3 times. I am currently just taking a break and working slowly for the PE exam in October. I have been taking the Civil/Structural exam and have been pretty close with 67's as my grade (Im in TX). But my boss has been trying to convince me to take the WR...

    CONNECTORS

You mean "Shear Stress" failure yes?  I want to take a shot at this and see what maybe @McEngr thinks or others as well.  shank length-- this is reliant on depth of members being fastened. Im going to say Shear stress capacity per unit length would not increase by length.  stress of bolt- I...

Pedestrian Bridge Collapse - Florida International University

That's agreeable. Innovation comes at a cost and you NEVER want it to be what happened in this case. That's gotta be a 150 ft span or more. Now, there are a lot of assumption from the viewers perspective at this point, but I was reading on Linkedin earlier and some accusations and finger...

$10 pencil is gonna be black....

Snap your a TI guy! Lol. Man that is some nice history! Some would envy being born in the Wi Fi era, i envy the opposite. When i was a kid in the mid 80’s i went along to a garage sale with mom. I saw a gagdet on a table and went straight for it. A man standing at a door to the house said in a...

Anyone using Revit, if so , what CPU you have?

Thanks for the recommendations! That P4000 looks like a winner. This way I will keep my gaming rig seperately.  :D The motherboard I got was GIGABYTE GA-B150N PHOENIX-WIFI, my brother had heard me mention about wanting to build a MINI unit and knew I was a Gigabyte fan so he got it for me. IT...

Anyone using Revit, if so , what CPU you have?

@knight1fox3 thanks for the reply! I have a haswell generation of i7. In christmas I got an 1151 motherboard and ever since I've been thinking about getting another CPU and switching out both MB and CPU. So how does the VideoCard process renderings? I thought Revit only used CPU power for...

Anyone using Revit, if so , what CPU you have?

Anyone using Revit? IF so what CPU are you using? I'm using it more and more, and I"m a little annoyed by the rendering time. I have an X99 i7 3.3Ghz along with 32GB ram and a 1080 GTX Nvidia Video card. I believe Revit uses the CPU for rendering and I"d like to up my speed for the process. Any...

SERM 9th Edition, NO Hard Cover!?!?

How do you feel about the new ASCE 7 subscription offer? Just got it in my email today. Its tempting, but I usually like using my two screens for Risa and Revit, or Web ( :D ). $200 a year is pretty straight forward to put in customer invoicing, but I just don't see them updating as often.

I always check code first. After that I move on to shear and moment capacity. Either way, you have to check everything.

    AISC Steel Manual 14 Ed

If you are taking structural depth you need entire manual no exceptions. Thats pretty much the bottom line. If you dont work in structural, then buy the 15th edition so that you can sell it. The 14th edition is still called for in the exam, but im sure the 15th has more material as opposed to...

SERM 9th Edition, NO Hard Cover!?!?

:)  im thinking thats mostly where my disappoinment comes from. I went through the work and emotion to mutilate my hard cover edition and then get a paper back.   The upgrade option is very cool i think and i guess if they ever print this version in HardCover then i can rebuy. I prefer...

SERM 9th Edition, NO Hard Cover!?!?

Actually it is from release to April 14, 2018. You have to fill out their form, and return the front cover of your old reference manual. The links below are for the eligible references and for the pdf form. The reference is great. Like many others there areas that i wish they would just detail a...

lol, thats hilarious. read other of my posts. You will find many regarding help on exam prep. Better yet, read this post again, and again, and again and refrain from getting ahead of yourself. Not everything is regarding exam prep questions. Sometimes its just nice to have a conversation with...
