    License Numbers FL, NY, MA

If it anything like FL, You can just go to the state board website, search for licensee, trial and error until you find the highest number. Keep track of that number and check back too often. When I passed I had everyone in my office guess my potential PE number. The one closest got a free lunch...

    Results out this week

The above link has some good history on failing scores. It would appear to be fairly consistent across state lines that you need all acceptable in the afternoon and a decent score in the morning. I understand that NCEES makes a recommendation to the state board and the state board can choose to...

    License Numbers FL, NY, MA

I found out I passed last Aprils exam in Florida on May 19th and I received my PE number on June 20th. That's a bit over four weeks after finding out my results.

ICC Welding Certification vs AWS CWI

I'm doing the ICC certification with 2015 codes. I do not know anyone that has had to get the Special Inspector Certification since they changed the code. There are only 2 people in my tri-county area that have it, and they were grandfathered in back in 2001, lucky *******s. At this time, this...

    Do you charge per hour?

As I'm writing this reply, my wife just volunteered me to go out to someones house and check to see if an interior wall is load bearing. This is our kids classmates that live out on a farm and my wife wants eggs from their free range chickens. I'm guessing if they need permit documents we'll...

Would your firm hire someone with an engineering degree outside your field?

We did that for a recent grad over the summer (son of the boss' friend). Then he used us as a reference and found a job in his field. It's probably temporary. It's nice to have engineering contacts in other fields. Build up your LinkedIn network, you never know when your contacts may come in handy.

Would your firm hire someone with an engineering degree outside your field?

We do civil, environmental and structural. We would look at hiring construction, geotechnical or architectural. Another local firm hired a structural graduate for a civil position and they've been there over a year. Our applicant pool is pretty small, maybe cause it's a small town. And we don't...

    Expected Results: June 2nd

Yes, the NCEES site shows different state results at different times. And in some states it shows people's results at different times.

Same designation for structural for the company they were quoting.

    Do you charge per hour?

I was quoted $2500 for civil engineering, then I clarified I was structural and the price went up to $5000 for the first year. After that it may go up based on your billing. That was for $1M/$2M. Our billing rates at the office vary between $130 and $175 and I charge my friends/family $100/hr...

    Protecting the PE License

The article says he emailed the Oregon Board and called himself "an excellent engineer" (he has an engineering degree from Sweden). How does the board justify the legal fees in defending this case to its members? It was a $500 fine, the guy lawyered up, and now it's going to cost thousands in an...
