    New Jersey License Numbers Out

I've heard nothing here but from what I'm told the State sends out some kind of "official" letter with a license number on it and says give us a check ~$80 which covers the registration and first 2 years of licensure.

    How big is your...Embosser?

I was looking at this one yesterday.  How long is the "reach" on it?

Scaffolding Help - Civil Construction Exam

I did exactly this.  I printed out each scenario with enough space next to each stage to write out what's going on in each stage (ie, slab is "wet" cannot support itself all load to shore level X.  Load at shore level X = slab + self weight).  Then I wrote out the load combination at each level...

Scaffolding Help - Civil Construction Exam

For shoring & reshoring - ACI SP4 - ACI347R (included in SP4).  With that, I believe you also get access to the ACI spreadsheets for each scenario (1S/1R, 2S/1R etc). I had trouble at first and I want to say I watched the EET lessons a few times but really took my time going through it.  It...

    Construction - October 2020

I don't recall there being any scaffold calculation questions on the Construction exam.  From what I remember, these were more OSHA 1926 look up questions. I would recommend getting a copy of OSHA 1926 Construction and familiarizing yourself with the sections.  Scaffolding is Subpart L. Also...

October 2020 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

To piggy back this, I would recommend tabbing your resources in a way that makes sense to you.  I personally tabbed every one of my references on the topics that were discussed in the EET (or insert your review course) materials.  Did I overtab? Probably, but the tabbing process helped me learn...

    How big is your...Embosser?

^^ What he said.  And, NJDOT still requires hard copies (7 EA) of all approved submittals on a project.  Any PE stamped submittals need a raised seal (TIMES 7) and a wet signature. For what my company designs in house, it's not so bad.  Usually a cover page stamp works.  But they require each...

    How big is your...Embosser?

As I sit and wait for the formal license from NJ, I'm starting to look at seals.  I believe NJ requires an embossed seal.  Looking at PEStamps.com as they were the banner ad, it looks like there's a few different size options and orientations.  Just curious, which size embosser do you guys feel...

    Construction - October 2020

No doubt.  I can't speak on School.  I was convinced to EET, which was a little bit cheaper so that helped.  I'm sure comparatively speaking they both have their strengths and weaknesses.  I think the main advantage to a review course is they filter out all the fluff and focus on what's actually...

    Construction - October 2020

To be honest, the EET binders is about all I used along with the NCEES Construction Practice Exam.  It doesn't seem like there's much else out there that I could find.  I have about 10 years experience as well in heavy highway construction for a company that does just about everything.  So I...

It would change absolutely nothing.  I'm just a curious person is all.   And I can see the elitest argument, and I'd unfortunately have to agree.  I'm a humble person and like to think those around me feel the same way, but I could see where this would get out of hand.

Half joke half serious.  I didn't know that NJ actually published that on their website.  But irrespective, in my "research" for what is a "pass"  prior to sitting, it seemed like general consensus was around a 70% anyway.  Or at least, that puts you in a good position for a pass. I set a goal...

    Construction - October 2020

Do yourself a favor and take EET's breadth and depth courses.  I see you are looking at the Construction Depth exam.  I'm not sure what your professional experience is like (construction is a very broad description), but their course is worth it's weight in gold and worth every penny.  I think...

October 2020 Post Exam Wait Period - Welcome to the Suck

As a New Jerseyian, that should not shock you. Every system used in by our civil service takes an ungodly amount of time to process.  See: MVC/DMV, unemployment... but congratulations on the pass!!

Oh great.  Here I am thinking all I have to do is get a 70% (56/80) to pass (I was unaware of that writing on NJ DCA website).  But, GENERALLY  speaking  70% raw score is usually good enough right??? Maybe that's why it takes NJ so long.  Maybe they consider than good enough for us! HOOORAY...
