Structural Mechanics Problem - Reaction Forces, Shear, Moment

@civilrobot You're welcome. One other thing to point out - in the AISC Steel Manual there's the beam diagrams and equations for various loading scenarios. Sometimes you might just be able to pick out the equation you need to solve direct for a variable. Rather than having to solve in a few...

Nutrition, Diet, and Elite Fitness: Notes, Goals, and Resources....

I wonder how many times they've got to contend with a SLIIIIIIIIIICE onto the highway...that seems awfully close to the road and it does not seem inconceivable that someone could clear the side fence.. There's one "near" me, but at least the range side of it is out of view of the highway and...

Structural Mechanics Problem - Reaction Forces, Shear, Moment

^^^ that too.  I did work this out by hand last night.  But, I initially drew the FBD of each beam left and right hinge reactions in the same direction.  Took a second to realize why the math wasn't working out.

Structural Mechanics Problem - Reaction Forces, Shear, Moment

@civilrobot Check these out.  Maybe these will help.  Almost identical to your problem.  Watch the first video and then the second.

    NJ PELS Approval Letter

Got my approval letter from the NJ PELS yesterday.  Tried paying the license activation fee online by following the directions on the invoice.  They're not correct.  Managed to navigate to an invoice page where it asks for the invoice # and my last name.  Filled both fields, submit, and then...

Structural Mechanics Problem - Reaction Forces, Shear, Moment

I'm tied up right now with some work - but what I can offer to help at the moment (no pun intended): 1.  How confident are you in your reaction force calculation? If you're confident, see next step. 2. Draw Shear Diagram to find Shear At B. (Note, since B is a hinge, you can break the beam...

    2019 Novel Coronavirus

If my memory serves me right, I think my company gave us the option to participate if we so please.  I did not personally, as I agree the cons outweighed the pros. It was well publicized but you're also banking on the knowledge of the masses.  Who actual read what the deal was (deferred tax)...

    How big is your...Embosser?

As stated above, NJ requires embossed seal.  Not a big deal for me.  It won't really be a daily use for me.  Just here and there as needed.  We only do a few designs in house that require stamps.

Scaffolding Help - Civil Construction Exam

You're welcome.  Obviously, every one is different.  That strategy worked for me, or at least I felt it did.  Couldn't say if I got the exam questions(s) correct or not.  I think I did some Googling as well and read like 15 different approaches/explanations as well. It really isn't a...
